A nice restaurant located in Paris 4eme. The day we visited I phoned to book the table, as the typical thai, I asked if they speak thai but the answer was no, and he asked me if I phoned to request for the job??!! I told him that I just need to reserve a table, he seemed to understand but before I hanged up he asked me again if I was searching for a job? It was the first bad impression!! After we arrived, I felt better a bit ‘cause the ambiance was good, the decorations were nice, the restaurant was clean, the waiter was polite. I ordered a main dish but my my friend took a menu so she got an entrée also. They served my dish and entrée of my friend at the same time, which is not normal in France because the entrée has to be served first and the dishes come together after, my friend was not so happy but for me, it was ok because I was a bit hungry. I ordered glass noddle Pad-thai, but I think that the taste is too sweet, it’s delicious but should put less sugar. After my friend finished her entrée, she waited for her main dish about 20mins, it was too long time, i have finished my main dish already but she still not received hers. That night, there was not so many customers, so she was a bit angry about the service. My friend ordered Seur Ronghai as a main dish, it has some smell of some kind of powder or spices on the food that I don’t like and the sauce was too sour, but my friend said it tasted ok for her, that helps to calm her down a little bit. The portion of the food is quite small comparing to the price. But the place is in the middle of Paris, I understand that...
Read moreWhat an awful experience!
I had dinner on a Saturday night with 3 friends in January.
I think they must have forgotten what it is to take care of customers for what they are : people willing to pay for a good experience! We were not properly treated just because one of my friends was very late and there was a second service. They kept coming and asking us when we would order until the fourth person arrived and then we had to hurry all the way til the end of our meal. I do accept that we should have been on time, but they could also have been more professional and more subtle. We knew that it was a problem to be late on a busy night (but it was not planned) and a restaurant should be able to manage one late table and be kind all the way through.
At first, we took it lightly, but after a while, we found it really spoiled our time there to have someone reminding us that we had to hurry regularly. We did not have time to enjoy our deserts and they were already handing us the bill! That was the last straw and we did express our dissatisfaction, but the man said that it was my friend's fault because she was the one who had been late. How incredible!
I had never seen such a treatment of late customers. Especially when they spend 140 euros for a table of 4. And though the food was good, the bill was quite expensive for what we got. So I don't recommend this place at all. Too unwelcoming and...
Read moreVery disappointing evening at Suan Thai. Attractive 'amuse bouche' were tasteless and old/stale. Not good. The two women serving all tables (approx. 75 seats indoors) were clearly out of sorts and dismissive of all of their tables. Service would get and 'F'. There is an impolite "B Word' that would properly describe these two. One of the two (both at least once or twice passed by our table to drop something off), even stopped to complain that there were too many people and there was not time to waste with the customers. (We walked to the bar and got our own decanter of water. We would gladly have walked to the kitchen to collect our own plates too, if we had known where to go). Dinner was only passable and 'served' or dropped off in passing, without comment and - of course - that was the last we ever saw of anyone. We paid the bartender since she was the only human available with a credit card machine ... and then left in haste, hoping to forget the entire experience. There are so many great little 'hole in the walls' in Paris - at least a dozen or more representing every culture on the planet. Don't waste your money on this one. ...
