We made a reservation for a large table of 10 at 9:15 PM on a Saturday. Upon arrival, we were informed that there were no noodle dishes left—essentially, more than 60% of the menu was unavailable. This was shocking, especially as it was 9 PM on a Saturday, and we had a reservation. We were effectively forced to make a meal out of starters, as there was no other option.

To make matters worse, the service was abysmal. I have never experienced such poor service at a restaurant in Paris. The waitresses were rude, in a terrible mood, and clearly unhappy to be working there. They made several mistakes with our orders, bringing starters we hadn’t requested, and then insisted that it was our fault. Worse, they claimed they “couldn’t return the order to the kitchen,” leaving us to deal with the situation.

The starters (since we couldn’t order main dishes) and drinks were served randomly. Half of our table received their orders, while the other half had to wait an additional 5-10 minutes for theirs.

Overall, it was a dreadful experience. The team—comprised of young, likely overworked staff—was completely unprofessional. Unfortunately, we have no intention of returning to try the noodles we were...

We had some spicy fried chicken starters that were really good, they had a nice crunch while the chicken inside was cooked quite perfectly and wasn’t dry at all. The salad was also really refreshing and complemented the spicy fried chicken well.

Then we had a fish bao and a pork bao. The fish was pretty okay, but I’m not sure any flavor really stood out. The pork was a bit of a disappointment, it wasn’t as flavorful and juicy as I’ve had pork in baos at other places, but the smokiness of charcoal was quite new and nice addition. The bao bread itself was also a bit dry unfortunately. The sauce was really good though

And because the baos are kind of the centerpiece of the Restaurant, I think I was gearing towards a 3 for this place but then as a last minute order before the kitchen closed we go the lamb skewer. They blew my mind for sure, they were really juicy and tender, and were packed full of flavor. They for sure made this place completely worth it, and along with the super friendly staff and fast service I really recommend stopping...

I wanted to love the food here so bad based on the reviews and photos. But sadly I was disappointed.

I ordered the pork bao. There is so much fat and hardly any meat on it that I didn’t even eat it. 3/10

I also ordered the shrimp, ravioli, the version that wasn’t fried. And they were okay. I would like to say that the sauce on it was actually pretty good. I just didn’t love these. They were a 5/10 for me.

I also ordered the popcorn chicken, which was what I was looking forward to the most and again it was just OK I’d give it a 6/10. They chicken pieces were big and crispy. But not much flavor. The spicy mayo that came with it was absolutely diabolical. It literally was so plain with no flavor or spice and it whatsoever. 6/10

I did order a few items because I did want to try a lot of the menu and I just wasn’t that impressed. I...

I can not see anyone leaving Baobar without a big smile on their faces, the food was wonderful, we ordered the veal, beef, fish and pie Baos all of them were delicious, the fish was especially mind blowing, for the dishes we ordered the sweet potato, cauliflower, tofu and fried chicken, amazing taste and very generous portions, the sweet potato really gave me a “Ratatouille moment” the staff were very friendly and welcoming and the chef Joelle, was a real girl boss, i was really proud watching her work! The open kitchen transforms the outing from just dinner to a real experience, everything looks so fresh and the attention to detail is seen in every step. The restaurant was packed but the service was very efficient. A big thank you to all the staff and will definitely come back very soon
