Do not go here! It’s really a shame that snobbiness and pretentiousness let’s this restaurant down. I was added to a last minute booking with friends last night thinking it would be a friendly environment and I could join them for one glass of wine and share a plate with my friend. But no. After ordering the waitress came back after and said you have to order one main course per person "ce n’est pas un bar à vin". We asked could I just order a starter and they refused, saying it had to be a main course. My glass of wine was already poured and as I had very quickly realised the kind of snobby place it was I was afraid that if I left my friends would get scammed with paying for my place at the table anyway. Even though a table of 4 is exactly the same as a table of 3. Disgusted, I ordered a main course against my will. I have never seen anything like that in my life. It would have been entirely different if my friends hadn’t ordered anything to eat, but they had ordered starters and main courses. For the sake of having a good time with my friends, more importantly, I had to force myself to enjoy the experience. A diabolical experience with pushy servers and dishes that were skimpy and WILDLY overpriced. It is NOT worth it. You can have nicer meals for much less in many other places in Paris. Totally overrated spot and after reading other reviews here it’s clear that this restaurant needs to get off it’s high horse. Here are my recommendations for better value for money restaurants in the same area in Paris with very nice staff and customer service: Cadence Dame...
Read moreMy husband and I were really excited to try Vantre while visiting Paris. We booked a reservation via email a few weeks before and they mentioned that they would be following up with us on the day of the reservation to confirm. We didn't get any confirmation texts or calls. We showed up to the restaurant at our reservation time and we were told that our table was given to someone else because we never confirmed. I showed he waitress I didn't get a single phone call or text message. She asked me to check my email and the restaurant emailed us at 7 PM for our 8:30 PM reservation - we were out for cocktails before dinner and I wasn't checking my phone at this point. The hostess/waitress got upset at us...
She eventually was able to make room for us at the bar, but once we got seated, she disappeared. It took about 20 minutes for any staff member to come by and take our drink/food orders. By the time someone did come by, we were told that they were sold out of 2 of 4 of the mains...
When our food did come, it was very tasty. But again, we had to continuously flag down the servers for more wine/water. We were treated as a burden to the staff rather then paying guests.
Had the service been better, I would recommend Vantre, but because of our experience and there being so many other great spots in Paris which exceptional service, I'd recommend...
Read moreunbelievable rude. we reserved this restaurant one week ago and expect a nice lunch. my friend sat next to the open kitchen and got coughing because of the smoke. so we politely asked to change our seat: two of us, a small table, only four tables occupied in the restaurant and it was 13h20 which means it's the last round for lunch time.
the Japanese waitress refused us for the first time. then we looked at the menu, tried to stay at where we were, but my friend cannot stop coughing, so I asked the second wait or and he refused us in a very rude way.
therefore we decided to change the place.
when we stood up and passed the bar, tried to apologize for our leaving with only saying "excusez moi", the owner behind the bar yelled at us "three times! you have already asked three times!".
we were shorked and just left, doubting ourselves if we did anything rude or against their rules.
with finding so many bad comments about their attitude, I finally could release myself being self doubt.
would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Paris has so many nice restaurants, delicious food, super wines. we don't need to bear this kind...
