The location is very good, only a minute away from the Place de la Republique, i. e. metro + bus station. A lot of cafes, bars, restaurants around. The temple street leads more or less directly to the Seine-island and its attractions, with Notre Dame being one of them. A very lively and busy place.
The breakfast was good, mid-range in terms of price, free coffee, ok variety. In case your neighbor decides to consume 5 eggs, you might end up missing them for your breakfast, since not always replenished for the day. The staff is friendly, no problems communicating in English (or German at times).
The room however was sub-standard. It was tiny, every time one of us wanted to go around the (double) bed, we hit the TV on the wall. The WC (combined with the shower) was directly opposite to the bed (50 cm away from it) and extremely small as well (2 square meters at most). No towel holders, the towels ended up being hung up somewhere else in the room. Of 3 towels one became permanently assigned to the floor, since the shower leaked quite badly.
The room was quiet, the "view" not worth being mentioned, since not presenting anything special except a narrow street segment and was also impossible to "enjoy" together simply due to the lack of space. Another reason to keep your windows shut is the smell coming from the (very popular) korean restaurant just beneath the hotel rooms in the evening hours.
No minibar, no safe in the room, no free-entry (you have to wait for the porter to open the door), but a cool greeting mechanism in the room. Once the room-keycard is put in the dock, the electricity is enabled, meaning, everytime you do so, the TV comes to life, whether you want it or not (usually not).
All things together, unfortunately, the room is clearly lacking comfort for the price we have paid and a 3-star rating is hardly deserved. If central is not your main criteria, you have a lot of better options for significantly less money. On the other hand, for slightly more money you might even consider a 4-star hotel with more freedom, i. e. without endangering the interior with your elbows every time you...

The hotel is very small (very narrow corridors, small rooms, tiny bathroom, quite a small breakfast room with ˜20 seats). I think we were a bit unlucky and got one of the smallest rooms (nr 25) in the hotel.
Even though it was small, it was still okay. Administrator was friendly and spoke good english. Breakfast tasted good and there was enough choice for us (toast, baguette, cheese, ham, butter, muesli, yoghurt, pancakes, jam, boiled eggs, croissants, some sweet bakery products, coffee, water, orange juice). And the hotel was close to Oberkampf and Republique subway stations.
Some little things that bothered us or could have been better (besides the small room): TV was turned on every time you put the keycard in the keycard switch. You have to use the doorbell every time you want to enter the hotel. Would've liked to see some warm breakfast options too (e.g. porridge, bacon, fried eggs or sausages). Breakfast table was only filled when something ran 100% empty. So if you want more cheese (and no interaction), you have to take the last one and wait a couple of minutes (hoping they'll bring more) :))
Overall nothing bad, but nothing to love...
Read moreWe stayed at this IBIS for a couple of nights in September 2022. Check in was fast and we got room 29. We even got recognition for being Accor Gold and got a free soft drink as we were checking in. The room was tiny and I’m glad that we had not brought big suitcases as that would have been a problem to find a place to keep them. The walls were in light beige color and there was a brown carpet. There was not much of a view from the window. There was a small TV, an open wardrobe with a few hangers and a sliding door into the bathroom. The bathroom was quite big and had tiles and seemed to have been made for a wheelchair user. There was not shower curtain at the shower and hence water would splash everywhere when taking a shower. From time to time (like once or twice an hour) there was this strange noise from what seemed inside the wall – maybe it had something to do with the aircon unit on the wall but it was quite annoying. The location of the hotel is good as it is only a couple of minutes’ walk from Place de la Republique. The main problem with the hotel is of course the price. In my opinion it is not worth 220 Euro per night but I guess that is what you pay to stay in a good...
