Limonaia — Restaurant in Rambouillet

positive:friendly service.nice decor… negative: Expensive drinks(-€6 for a coca cola…)( wine 38-44€ bottle/ Sicilian/ chianti/ Venetian… ok but ..) food: gnocchi with truffle and cream-was tasty and the gnocchi was light, but the dish was basic. BUT the real disappointment- the pizzas were really not good at all. :-( The base was made from a brown type of flour( server not able to explain) and an uncooked base and small pizza dough, not at all light or crispy or even like a pizza- just heavy brown dough. I even thought it was microwaved! The tomato sauce was ok but pretty tasteless mozzarella. All in all a shock!. My husband took our daughter’s portion home in a box but he will not eat it. What a shame as there are only a few pizzas on the menu and for me that is how it is in Naples. But this was not in any way Naples. For the dessert- a surprisingly nice tasting lemon tart even though it looked curdled, and my tiramisu was ok, although the sponges were not soaked hardly at all and the cream was tasteless. At 165 euros for 5 people(2 adults and 3 children) we had in total 3 “pizzas”, 2 pasta dishes, and only 3 deserts, I bottle of fizzy water, one bottle of red wine)…. frankly it was not value or quality for money. If the pizzas had actually been pizzas—- and not a grey brown round uncooked dough, small pretty tasteless “from an automatic vendor style machine” you see in garages…. then maybe I would have given the place a second chance. Shame -as the deco was beautiful. CONCLUSION: AVOID! I think this place is a tourist trap as it is next to the hotel Mercure and is probably looking at making quick bucks from business people and tourists who are unlikely to return. Ice cream stand: Waited for 10 minutes with the waiters clearly seeing us wait. After 10 mins Waiter tells us she will be there shortly only for her to come back and say they are not serving any icecream anymore since it's dinner time. They could have just told us from the beginning instead of making us wait there. Or at least put a sign that it's closed.

Furthermore we did manage to get ice cream a month ago and it was very good gelato. However super expensive (prices are not marked either so you are surprised to pay 8 euros for 2 scoops). We wanted to sit down on the tables which were empty and they told us all of them were reserved for dinner.. we just wanted to eat our gelato for no more than 10...

Nous sommes deux clientes fidèles, venant chaque semaine depuis août dernier pour boire un verre en terrasse. Jusqu'à présent, nous avions toujours été bien accueillies par les serveurs qui nous apportaient nos cocktails accompagnés d'un pot d'amandes ou d'olives.

Cependant, hier soir, notre expérience n'a pas été à la hauteur. En arrivant, comme à notre habitude, nous nous installons en terrasse directement, un serveur nous a vues, mais ne nous a ni accueillies ni apporté de carte. Après 15 minutes d'attente, nous avons dû nous présenter au bar pour passer commande. Le serveur ne parlant pas français a dû demander l'aide de sa collègue. Celle-ci, au lieu de nous aider avec amabilité, nous a fait une remarque moqueuse et arrogante, nous reprochant de ne pas nous être présentées à l'accueil, bien que nous n'avions jamais eu à le faire jusqu'à présent et que la terrasse ne comptait que trois tables occupées. « La prochaine fois, il faudra se présenter a l'accueil avant de s'installer, comme ça je vous ai en tête. »

Nos cocktails ont été servis sans les habituelles amandes ou olives, contrairement aux autres clients. De plus, la carafe d'eau avec deux verres que nous avions demandée n'a jamais été apportée. Fallait-il encore se présenter à l'accueil pour une simple carafe d'eau ?

Nous avons finalement demandé à un autre serveur, un homme tatoué aux cheveux rasés et attachés, qui a corrigé la situation en nous apportant finalement la carafe d'eau et les olives de lui-même.

Au moment de payer, la même serveuse a montré une attitude bien plus aimable envers une autre table, mais nous a presque ignorées, encaissant notre note tout en débarrassant d'autres tables.

C'était une expérience très décevante après des mois de visites agréables. Nous espérons que le service s'améliorera pour que cela ne se...
