Zhangliang malatang — Restaurant in Reims

Perfect Location and average Asian food We stumbled upon this Asian restaurant on our first night in Reims, while taking a stroll around the Notre Dame Cathedral. The location is perfect and the restaurant has a perfect seating outside with a great view towards the back of the Cathedral.

The service is good and the waitress really tried her best to deliver a very comfortable experience. Her English was ok and we could easily place the orders.

The place has a good drinks and champagne menu, moderately priced and in the true spirit of the champagne region.

The food was pretty average though and we were a bit disappointed with it. We ordered grilled porc ravioli and it was great. But overall, this was not the most authentic and best Asian experience.

We spent some 75 Euros for an average dinner for 2 people with a bottle of Champagne.

Overall, on a scale of 10, I'd probably give it a 6.

I have to walked to the cashier to ask the waitress to accept my order. The kitchen is open at the entrance and you can see only one chef working there. There are two ladies as waitress but they don’t want to interact with the customers.

The dishes are tasty but very very small. We wait for almost 30 mins to have the first dish. The fried rice was serve at the end which I initially want to eat with the fish that is the first dish.

We went to the restaurant at 8:30 pm and leave at 9:30pm. I wonder if they would have a helper for the chef so he can cook faster. A 3 people operation with two waitress that actually do nothing is not right .

The bill came out with very very small print so be careful if they give you the wrong bill. They don’t want you to read it obviously.

We decided to book here having been 4 years ago when staying in Reims overnight. This time our experience was the complete opposite to our last. The service was bad. The only words uttered by our very scary waitress was quelle nom other than that it was curt nods and scowels. The laminated menu was not pointed out to us and so we didn t spot it. We were humphed at for this. The food was ok, but came across i m afraid as a little like low end takeaway. Very disappointing as 4 years ago we had an attentive smiling server...
