We stayed in the Best Western and had dinner here in the hotel restaurant Café Victor on a Saturday evening in May. The restaurant has an old-school French bistro vibe and for a Saturday, it wasn’t super busy, so we managed to get a table without a reservation. We went for the mixed grill and a Cesar salad, both of which were very tasty and cooked well. The mixed grill came as a skewer, which was unexpected as I thought the different pieces of meat (duck, beef, sausage, veal) would be on the plate separately. Nevertheless, the size didn’t disappoint and the grill was accompanied by a sizable portion of deliciously crunchy fries and a great pepper sauce. For dessert, we had crème brûlée and the macron. The crème brûlée tasted light and balanced but wasn’t super special. However, the macron was the star of the show, with the fresh raspberry flavor coming through beautifully. Definitely an amazing desert! The service was rather slow and disorganized but once we had ordered the food arrived quickly, so the kitchen seems well run. Price is ok for what you get. The table next to us had the duck dish and that seemed like a work of art, with extremely elaborate and skillful preparation by the head waiter right...
Read moreWe heard about duck with blood and decided to try it for our anniversary dinner. The carving at the table, explanation of the preparation was quite interesting. However, we did not like the taste at all. We have been eating duck throughout our trip in Normandy in different restaurants and it has been exceptional everywhere else. It definitely lacks the taste for the price. Keep in mind that you do not get full duck. You only get breast. The legs and wings are removed and taken back to the kitchen . We thought they will be served but we were told that they are used to prepare the sauce for the time when someone else orders it. So if no one orders this dish for months, they keep the legs ? Makes no sense. If the do not want to include the legs in the dish, they should not present the full duck. The show, what you get on the plate and taste is not worth...
Read moreWe arrived at this restaurant in a party of three. We only had an hour before our train departed. Despite the short time we spent at the restaurant, Fabrice, the restaurant captain made it a memorable dining experience for us. His service is impeccable and is super funny. All the staffs were very friendly and kind as well. We tried the seafood platters and were so in love with the freshness of Normandy seafood, especially the shrimps we had. The truffle pasta was also delicious. We would recommend everyone to stop by this wonderful and convenient restaurant to have a taste of Normandy seafood and of the enjoyable dining...
