Answering the question from the restaurant owner. (By the way, I don't think that "??? un peu plus de détails nous..." is appropriate way of communication, We are not friends and do not chating in whatsapp.)
2 stars for the food: All the dishes were less than regular. I'm not an expert of French cuisine but all the places I visited before were better. Serving was very poor (salmon carpaccio was served with a packed butter!!!). It could be 3 stars, but my main concern was with Andouillette sausage. It's more about service but I could not eat this.
Service: We are not French speaking persons. Our waiter didn't speak English (which is fine), but all his colleagues did. Why didn't they help him is a question for me. When I ordered Andouillette sausage I asked about this dish as I it was new for me: what is made of etc. The answer was "pork", which is fine for me. But as a result I received what I definitely didn't expect: sausage made of large intestine, which is not acceptable for me. I do understand that it's traditional French cuisine, but I strongly believe that it's nice to be informed in advance, especially if I ask direct question. As a result I had no dinner that evening. It wasn't the only issue, service was too slow, to find the waiter was a big quest. No advice, informing, anything. Other stuff was much more helpful, so probably we just were unlucky.
We had big expectation from this place based on reviews. Big...
Read moreWe had a wonderful dinner at this place. On a side street with active foot traffic heading to the place du vieux-Marche. We had the fixed price menu and enjoyed every dish. We had a bottle of Cidre with our meal which matched well. We were not rushed and we enjoyed our time chatting, eating, watching people stroll by, and the pleasant evening weather. A fabulous meal at a reasonable price. The escargot were tender and very flavourful. The cheese in pastry was a texture and flavour combination that was a nice intro to the menu and was on several tables around us. The salmon entree was very popular with the locals and they all seemed to enjoy it. We both had the duck with potatoes dauphinoise and jumped straight in and enjoyed it before remembering to get a photo. The duck was slightly under rendered on mine yet close enough to make the fat enjoyable while my spouse's duck was rendered perfectly. The miel (honey) sauce and the cook was perfect and paired with the dauphinoise nicely. The brut cidre paired well providing relief from the richness and a fruitiness. We skipped dessert because we had ice cream as we walked the place and then finished with a fromage course at...
Read moreLe Bistrot d'Arthur is a cracking little spot in the heart of Rouen, serving up honest French cuisine with flair and warmth. The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed, perfect for a casual lunch or a cosy evening meal. Service is brisk but friendly, and the staff strike a fine balance between efficiency and charm.
The menu leans into traditional favourites — think escargots, entrecôte, and camembert — all cooked with care and served generously. I had the Super Entrecôte, sauce au choix, avec frites with an aperol spritz, followed by a rich rice pudding. My fiancée enjoyed the Jambonnette de dinde, sauce au cidre, avec gratin with a Fiero Spritz, followed by a Charlotte aux fruits de la passion. Everything was spot on. Prices are reasonable (around €24 to €34 depending on the set menu choices), and the wine list offers good value.
It’s the kind of place that doesn’t try too hard — just good food, good vibes, and a sense that you’re in capable hands. If you’re wandering Rouen’s old streets and fancy a proper French meal, Le Bistrot d'Arthur is well...
