We have come to this location many times over the past 30 years: first, for our son's Baptism celebration, then for four other major family events. We were happy to see that new owners have revived this lovely location! I would have given this five stars except for the way we were welcomed, but first let me say that our server was excellent, very patient with the two grandchildren with us. The food was very good. And I loved the atmosphere. The decor was welcoming and well-appointed. The only issue we had was the way we were received when we came in. We told the hostess that we had a reservation, and she said, "for four?" and my husband said, "Four plus two surprise grandchildren added in last minute." She said, in a voice I found a bit abrupt, "That is six, sir, not four. You had a reservation for four. I don't know if I'll have room. We are booked." Having owned a restaurant for 15 years, I understand how these last minute surprises can be tricky. Yet taking the chance of ruining that first impression of a customer is never a good idea. We will be back, but probably not right away because that experience left a negative impression for me. Again, though, I want to stress that everything else was terrific, and I do highly recommend...
Read moreIconic restaurant in Gérardmer! Perfectly located near the lake, and with a very nice terrace (unfortunately we visited during the winter in a rainy day, so we couldn’t enjoy it). We were here in December, so I also attached the menu from today 29.12.2021. We went for the Russian Rigatoni (pasta) with shrimps and vodka sauce, soup du jour (daily soup) and the blueberries tarte (that comes with a coup of ice-cream - Miam!). Read moreAccueil du personnel à revoir, très mal-aimable ; certains serveurs se permettent des remarques déplacées. Service plutôt long et laborieux : plutôt désorganisé dans l'ensemble. La communication dans l'ensemble est quand à elle désastreuse. De plus, tous les serveurs ne portent pas de masque.
Cependant, tout cela resterait acceptable si nous n'avions pas eu une démonstration du manque de professionnalisme de celle qui semblait être la gérante. Cette dernière s'est permise d'être très méprisante voir injurieuse envers des personnes qui ont décidé de quitter le restaurant en raison d'une attente trop longue (l'attente générale était d'ailleurs déraisonnablement longue, dans ce cas plus d'une heure pour un plat). La gérante s'est emportée et s'est même permise une remarque à la dame âgée qui accompagnait la famille en soulignant qu'il fallait "faire attention car le temps passe vite", insinuant ainsi que cette pauvre dame n'en avait plus pour longtemps.
Si on résume, personne injurieux, mauvaise organisation et des protocoles sanitaires non respecté (nous passerons sur la mauvaise foi de l'équipe),...
