Grand Mère Augustine — Restaurant in Saint-Malo

BEWARE OF THE OWNER!!!!!! Me and my girlfriend had one of the worst dinner experiences ever at this restaurant. I ordered the "Steak Haché" with fries for 13,90€. Not only was the portion very small but the meat was very dry and raw. As I went over to the owner to ask him to fry it a little bit more he completely freaked at me, yelled " what is with the food?!" and then on top of it all took my plate and threw it in the garbage. I then went back to my table and he came after me with the bill. My girlfriend hadn't finished her meal at all but this was such an unfriendly environment that we decided to leave immediately. I only paid 20€ from the 29,90€ bill as I hadn't received a new meal and wasn't obviously able to finish my last one. We then left. BUT THAT IS NOT THE END OF THE STORY!!! He seriously came after us in his car, got out of it and stopped me and my girlfriend in a lonely alley. He wasn't really able to speak english so he didn't really get our point about what was wrong with the food but he was so infuriated and kept yelling at us that we didn't pay the bill and that he would call the police. We tried to get away from him but he took my arm and wanted us to pay the rest of the bill. Too be honest at this point I was afraid that he would hurt either me or my girlfriend. She was able to explain to him that the meat was too raw, he then shows us the finger(!!!) went back into his car and drove off. The evening was totally ruined and we decided to leave the town immediately though we still had one night left there. I think Grand'Mère Augustine would be ashamed of...

NOT RIGHT MENU The menu shown here is completely out of date, with current prices ~40% higher. The staff were very dismissive about it and, although polite, service was not particularly friendly, maybe as a consequence of the menu discussion. The waitress took our order, then came back five minutes later to take it again because she'd forgotten to write it down. Yet when we asked to be handed the menus again to recall all that we'd ordered, she looked surprised and annoyed. Food was average but service was poor and prices not...

We liked this restaurant. Breton cuisine. The historic center of Saint-Malo. A building conducive to interest in local history. Comfortably. Prices are slightly above average, but the place is such that it is hardly worth waiting for gifts. Large selection of seafood. Alcohol selection: wine, wonderful cider, beer. High-quality cooking. Great service. Quick and friendly waiters. It did not take long to wait. The weather is cloudy, not hot. And here it was nice and warm. You can come with children. It is possible with...
