Super disappointing for having a 4.8. To start the service was not great. It’s a low bar and I really don’t understand why they don’t even seem to care. This place was bad. And yes, it was busy, but this is a restaurant that’s busy all the time during very predictable hours. So it’s not really an excuse. For example. My waitress was literally busing the table next to me while I had dirty dishes sitting in front of me. I had to continually ask for another drink, even though my empty one was sitting in front of me. And finally while ordering dessert at the end of my meal my server literally stopped listening to me mid sentence and initiated a conversation with the table next to me. Second more importantly was the food. To start with the bread was borderline inedible. I feel like somebody forgot to add baking soda or salt and it literally tasted like cardboard. I had to ask for butter and even then I didn’t finish all of it. And I love bread. 2nd. I ordered a crispy pork shoulder and it came out in a golf ball size ball like form with a tasteless paste holding it to the plate. Just so not impressive for being in a country where food is king. On a good note. I did have some crab tacos that were amazing. But, I think ordering something like tacos in France is not something to brag about. Can’t even imagine what other restaurants in this area are like if this one has a 4.8. Warning to foodies. Avoid the old city food. Go to restaurants outside of the tourist area , if you want something edible.

We were lucky to get a reservation here last evening and were rewarded with a wonderful experience. The owners are clearly focused on delivering great food and service. Things run smoothly and efficiently. The menu was varied and creative. We sampled much before our main plat. We had 12 oysters that were nicely served on ice with some seaweed and a mignonette. My wife had a soup she enjoyed. We had 3 crab and avocado guacamole tacos that were delicious. For our mains she had a pork dish that was excellent. My John Dory was also delightful. We shared a small but just perfect dessert. The wine list deserves a mention as it too is excellent. Throughout the meal our service was extremely prompt and professional. I highly recommend this fine restaurant and my thanks to the owners for sharing their efforts with us.

Absolutely one of the best restaurants I've had in France and my now "go to" restaurant for seafood. They serve such exquisite food that is perfectly seasoned and flavorful. With their rather small menu, it's no wonder the food is excellent. I recommend the oysters, trying their crab tacos (tacos d'araignée), and the Saint-Pierre and Saint-Jacques were both excellent choices. For dessert, I liked their strawberry meringue (pavlova) better than their chocolate mousse with peanuts; however, the flavors of both were exquisite. The staff also made the dining experience quite memorable as they spoke both French and English, while ensuring we had an incredible meal.

Great Lunch and Dinner, very high quality food on gourmet level for reasonable prices. Very nice kids menu as well. We have been there 3 times in 2 weeks, the whole family (age 3 to 75) was extremly pleased. Best place to eat in St. Malo.

After an unfortunate break of three years we finally returned to the fidelis in Summer 2022. Like before the food, service and atmosphere is absolutely great. We have been there three times in one week and tried nearly all courses. Beginning with the 32 euro 3-course menu which is fantastic up to the very tasty lobster, you can not fail. Even the kids menus are delicious. The wine list is extensive and the prices fair. We know nearly every acceptable restaurant in St. Malo and absolutely recommend this restaurant for lunch and dinner. Always book a table in advance. Sitting innside is more comfortable, the terrace is nice but close to the crowds moving through the city and sometimes windy.

We...
