New Corsaire — Restaurant in Saint-Malo

We had a meal here this evening.

As well as being slow, the service was rather “freaky” in the sense that the man serving us had an overly sarcastic sense of humour, possibly to the extent that he demonstrated contempt towards us for the fact that we were British (although this was hard to conclude).

The staff were generally very self indulged, singing and joking at each other with little interest in our experience as customers.

The narcissistic responses on here to negative reviews align with our experience (and I fully expect to see a similar response shortly along these lines. Or they may bring out the sarcasm. Let’s see!).

Now to the food. I can only think that the seafood is decent otherwise the reviews on here are not representative of the experience that we had this evening. We had meat dishes and they were not good. The steak haché was served in a puddle of oil with the meat itself of poor quality. This too applied to the burger.

On the plus side the frites were decent.

We went to this restaurant with high expectations given the excellent rating. Unfortunately the food is merely mediocre and overshadows the superb service. For our entrees, the fish soup was excessively salted so that we could not manage to eat more than a few spoonfuls whereas the rillettes de saumon was bland as to have us question whether the dish truly contained salmon. The fish of the day had a sauce that seemed to be a reduction of the fish soup and was consequently inedible due to the extreme overall saltiness of the dish. We have been here at our third evening. Atmosphere is quite ok but not comparable to the 2 other places we have been before. This place is quite touristy but the food was more than ok. We went for the 3 course Menü which was a great deal for the price. Wine list is below French average but it seemed that most of the guest didn’t order a bottle like we would do.
