I recently had an incredible dining experience at a restaurant that I can't recommend highly enough. From the moment we walked in, the staff's warmth and expertise were evident. They went above and beyond, describing each dish in intricate detail, sharing the origins of every little ingredient, and ensuring we felt informed and excited about our choices.

Not only did the staff excel in their knowledge, but they also timed everything perfectly. We didn't have to wait long for any of our orders, and they skillfully managed the pacing of our meal. Their attentiveness and friendliness created a welcoming atmosphere throughout the evening.

The restaurant itself was a tranquil haven, nestled in a serene setting. The entire place exuded cleanliness, from the meticulously arranged furniture to the spotless surroundings. my husband and i had dinner at this restaurant on 30 Sep 2018. my husband chose the €45 set menu, and i ordered from the ala carte menu. when we indicated our orders, we were surprised that the lady waitress (there was only one for the evening) did not ask about my husband's choice of entree and main course items, even though there were 3 or 4 items to choose from. (these were listed with "ou" which means "or" in english). we immediately called for her attention and asked her about it, but she replied in french (we can't speak the language) that seems to imply there is nothing to choose from. we were the only asians in the restaurant, and we noticed the other diners get to choose what they wanted when they ordered the set menu. as the dinner courses were served, we requested to see the menu again, to confirm our suspicion that we had been discriminated. two times, she responded with "oi" to our request but the menu never made it to our table. when our tap water ran out, we asked two times for a refill, but that too, never came. after we paid for the dinner, my husband took a picture of the menu displayed outside the restaurant.

we stayed at hotel des abers which is next door to the restaurant. the next morning, we showed our restaurant bill and the menu to the hotel owners. they felt sorry for us and expressed bewilderment at the unfair treatment.

we caution all who desire to patronise this restaurant, to be wary of such an unfair treatment especially if you are Asians like us. insist to be given the choices you want if you choose a set menu. as for us, we will NOT recommend this restaurant because we think the...

My wife Jill & I, had the pleasure of experiencing the food & hospitality at Le Chalut, a little more than 4 years ago. I'm sorry I've waited 4 years to leave our review but had always intended to, as the forthcoming accolades were so well deserved at the time. We were staying nearby, googled restaurants, chose Le Chalut and will always be glad we did. What an experience! Such a very special night! I was keen for my wife, a first-time drinker, to enjoy the whole experience and the lovely owner serving us, indicated with just enough English and her lovely smile, that she understood what I meant.
