JOA Beach Sxm — Restaurant in Saint Martin (France)

Worst service I have ever had. Benoit decided not to serve me any drinks because my wife was eating food from another spot on the beach. We didn’t know that was not allowed and she put the food away. We saw other people with outside foods and drinks and not a word was said to them and they were waiting on and treated with kindness and respect. We ordered 3 drinks and had to go to the bar for all of them. The manager was quite rude as well. Will never return. The response to this review is a lie. The waiter yelled at my wife about the outside food and she put it away immediately. We really didn’t know this was not ok as we saw others with outside food and drinks. Had we known, we never would have brought the food there. The response was that we were asked multiple times. This was our first time at this place. I drank their drinks and ate off site which was my right. I was not served after this incident. As I look back on this experience, I keep wondering what it was about me that made the waiter and the manager treat me so rudely because we did everything we were asked to do immediately. I take full responsibility for not understanding the culture and expectations but this experience really ruined my day and could have been handled so much more...

We have been in St. Martin, Orient Bay for two weeks. In that time we've had opportunity to visit several of the beach bar/restaurants in the area. We noticed Joa Beach from the beginning of our stay. It's design is upscale, comfortable, beachy vibe with great music. It is a family run venue with dad, son, mom and daughters all contributing. On Thursday nights, they turn the evening dinner into a huge outdoor BBQ, with a DJ playing sexy lounge music. Last night they included the talents of a local saxophone player that really made the evening amazing. His music complimented the music the DJ was playing which made it that much more entertaining. This is a must do when visiting this area, there's no other place in Orient Beach that offers this kind of service, food and atmosphere. 5 stars...

Alex has created an amazing beach experience. He and his lovely family run this upbeat, sexy, lively beach bar/restaurant. We were visiting St. Martin for a month during the Christmas and New Year holiday. We went to Joa almost every day we were there. We had the opportunity to get to know the staff and visitors during our stay there. Going there every day was like visiting your neighborhood bar where you know everyone. The crystal blue waters, beach lounge chairs, service, cocktails and food were exactly what one would want to experience on a Caribbean beach in the West Indies or any other place in the world.
