Waï Plage — Restaurant in Saint Martin (France)

We had an amazing time! We came with a tour group to sit on the beach right outside Wai Plage. When we arrived our guide was pointing things out for us, bathrooms, drink stations and where to sit. We asked an extra time for clarification which chairs we could sit in, and she replied any of them. We proceeded to look for a couple unoccupied loungers. As we were setting our stuff down and laying out towels, an employee of Wai Plage walked up and told us we were in the wrong spot, we needed to be with our group. We hesitated our setup and as I started to ask where we needed to go, the employee said, we were fine to sit there and for us to enjoy our time! This was a huge relief as we were very hot and just wanted to get our stuff set up so we could cool down in the water. After swimming a bit we went up to that same employee to see about ordering food. He handed us a menu, and offered us suggestions on things to try from the menu. He explained how we could eat in the restaurant or right down at our lounge chairs. He made us feel welcomed and the decision process so easy! We placed our order, and in what seemed like only a few minutes our food was being delivered to our lounge chairs. The food was delivered on a large tray which was much easy to eat from than I was expecting. The waiter made comments about having a great chef, and that our food would taste great! He was not wrong, the food had amazing flavor and looked great! The food not only tasted amazing it also looked really good too. The chef put effort into the presentation of the food, which was a pleasant unexpected treat! Our waiter came back by us a couple of times to check on us and clean up as we finished the meal. As we were leaving for the day I walked over to thank him one last time and ask his name! He again was super friendly and said his name was JR! We will definitely be coming back to eat there again! My husband and I recently spent 10 days in St. Martin—a destination we visit several times a year. Every trip, we make it a point to spend several beach days at Wai Plage (Wai Beach), and once again, they did not disappoint.

💁‍♀️ Service: From the moment we arrive, we’re greeted with smiles and genuine warmth. The entire staff is consistently friendly and attentive. The beach boys are professional and always go the extra mile to make sure your day is relaxing and enjoyable.

🍴 Food: The food is always amazing. We’ve never had a meal at Wai Plage that we didn’t love. The menu is well thought out and beautifully executed—perfect for a beach-side lunch or something a little more elevated. The chef does an excellent job.

🌦️ Service Under Pressure: On a particularly busy Sunday, (April 27th), an unexpected downpour had beach-goers scrambling for cover. The manager and servers worked quickly and calmly, making sure all guests, even those without reservations, were seated comfortably and served without delay. It was truly impressive and showed the team’s commitment to great service, no matter the circumstances.

👏 Overall: From the bartenders to the beach boys, servers, chef, and manager, the whole team goes above and beyond to make every guest feel welcome. It's the kind of place that keeps us coming back trip after trip.

The person who greated us at Wai was welcoming and helpful, as it was our first time. The drinks and tapas we had were outstanding. Our server, not so much. After about 25min of trying to get his attention to order food and more drinks I was just about ready to go up to the bar for help. He was near our table waiting on the others around us, friendly, checking on them several times, etc, ...being a lovely server. Not one look towards us. He took a step around a pole and towards us, no eye contact though. I loudly said excuse me, could we order (I had a smile on still). His response, sure. Spoken as if we were bothering him. We would have ordered more food and drink, but had no desire to stay. Instead, since we were so hungry, we shared 1 tapa then headed out. It was the strangest experience. The restaurant was very nice, lovely spot to spend the day, clean bathrooms, etc. Food and the mojito were amazing. Hopefully if you go, you'll get a server who is friendly to everyone, even friendly Americans who don't...
