La Guinguette du pont de Cénac — Restaurant in Sarlat-la-Canéda

Argentinian guys cooking beef over fire with authentic chimichurri sauce. Booked as one of the few places open for dinner on a Sunday. It’s all outside under cover on the river bank so can be draughty if the weather is inclement. The staff were friendly and appreciated our bad French however spoke good English. I ordered the Cote de Boeuf for €28 served with chips and salad. Probably the best piece of beef I have eaten in 45 years of life. I watched as numerous French people approached the two guys cooking over the wood fire and complimented them (the French do not do this often)! Intrigued I approached and found two Argentinians doing what they love and know best, cooking beef over fire, absolutely to perfection. I’d gladly pay twice what I did for that 500g of heaven! Venu hier apre-midi a 8 pour boire coup et manger une glace suite a notre promenade en canoë nous arrivons nous demandons si c est possible ont nous dit oui met mettez vous sur les table derrière le chalet celle qui sont toute cassée car il et 17 h et ont a dresser les table de devant et là on nous dit il faut passer la commande au comptoir donc je dit bizarre comme méthode et là il nous doit me répondre derrière assis en train de boire un café non non c’est normal nous sommes en sous-effectif. Mes collègues ne peuvent pas être partout il y avait 10 personnes dans le restaurant quatre serveurs ça va Donc je me lève, je vais récupérer un stylo un papier et La serveuse était en train de se rouler sa cigarette, tranquillement au comptoir et nous écrivons notre commande. Un monsieur arrive récupère le papier il nous prépare la commande. là on nous amène les essais lace les huit boissons. Nous goûtons les glaces. Je trouve un goût bizarre mon fils aussi et nous apercevons que le chocolat était périmé. Donc je vais le dire il goûte le chocolat. En effet désolé le chocolat fait maison c’est périmé certes on nous a offert les glaces, on nous les avons pas payé, mais je trouve quand même lamentable que dans un restaurant bord de rivière où ça brasse du monde, on ne goûte pas son chocolat on dit quoi que ce soit quand on sent les gens franchement le bordel est décevant et surtout ce resto ça fait plusieurs années que j’y vais et toutes les années ça change de propriétaire et c’est nul Donc je ne reviendrai pas, et encore moins...

A year later and made sure we returned to eat here again. It still as good as in 2023. We will return. Food was perfect. Plenty of items to chose on the menu. We ordered steaks, fries, with mushroom sauce. We could see it being cooked on the open fire. It was perfectly cooked, nicely presented and very tasty. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and smiling. The outdoor seating is all under shade and you are right next to the Dordogne River. Very relaxing...
