U Caseddu — Restaurant in Sartène

Absolutely one of the best restaurants I've eaten in, in a very long time. The food is absolutely second to none !! The service and hospitality of the owners and their staff was the very best I've ever seen. Or server, Lu, was so very very helpful and personable. If I had a restaurant or any other service business, I would hire her in a minute. The spaghetti, the bread, the lasagna, the lobster and the wine were fabulous. Abbiamo cenato in questo locale settimana scorsa, partendo con un’alta aspettativa e restando piano piano sempre più delusi. Ci è molto dispiaciuto trovare la pasta mal cotta, il pesce gommoso e parecchia sabbia nelle vongole. Il piatto con la sabbia l’abbiamo giustamente mandato indietro, ricevendo da parte del personale un trattamento parecchio scorbutico: la cameriera che parlava italiano non si è nemmeno scusata quando sparecchiando ha accidentalmente fatto cadere del cibo sul vestito bianco della mia amica (che è tra l’altro rimasto macchiato). Il piatto incriminato è stato ricucinato, togliendo le vongole della ricetta originale, (o forse hanno soltanto tolto le vongole insabbiate dal piatto precedente? Non lo sapremo mai), ma nessuno sconto ci è stato applicato al momento del pagamento, ne un dolcino offerto a fine pasto. Anzi: il proprietario del locale ha asserito a bassa voce, pensando che nessuno lo sentisse, che “è a tutti gli effetti normale trovare sabbia nelle vongole, in quanto esse sono creature marine”. Purtroppo ne siamo rimasti molto delusi, sia dai sapori, che dalla situazione in generale: la location è molto carina, ma caldissima (un solo ventilatore per tutti i tavoli esterni) e piena zeppa di zanzare (neanche uno zampirone fu acceso in nome della pace interiore di ognuno di noi). Unico punto a favore è stato un cameriere giovane che ha subito provato a interagire nonostante non parlassimo la stessa lingua! Prezzi in linea con la zona, ma decisamente troppo alti per la bassa qualità...

Came here for dinner the other night, food was mediocre. We came here bc we saw there was vegetarian food (true). What I found a bit strange was that staff kept multiple times coming by and taking away half eaten dishes, with the other person still eating full on.
