I’d been wanting to check out Chez Xuan for some time, and finally got there recently for a light dinner. I was underwhelmed.
I ordered soup and two appetizers, Soupe Pékinoise, Nems "Da Lat" maison and A Kao aux crevettes. Everywhere else in France, the Soupe Pékinoise is essentially Hot & Sour Soup by another name. Not here, there was no heat whatsoever, nor a trace of vinegar. The Nems were okay, and the A Kao showed up in a pasty, unappetizing wrapper. IMHO, the various Asian buffet restaurants in this area do much better jobs on all three items.
Prices were also pretty steep … the tab for those three items was €42!

My vegetable soup with seafood was like a Michelin rated dish aka excellent, hubby and brother’s homemade samosas and spring rolls delightful and then the dishes so much astonishing to our palates that we didn’t even talk until the plates were sent back crystal clear with our compliments to the charismatic Chef Philippe Thai.
