Solo Pizza Napoletana — Restaurant in Torcy

May 2025 Update: Stopped by for lunch around 12:10pm on a Tuesday without reservation and we were seated immediately. Overall, the service was very good but we were disappointed to see that the quality of the food served is not what it used to be and so I lowered my overall rating to 3 stars this time around based on the following details. For a starter, we ordered fried battered zucchini flowers but unfortunately, they were quite disappointing because they were greasy with a heavy coating of batter instead of being light and crispy as they were previously. I had one with batter that was not fully cooked clinging to the zucchini flower. Also, these fried zucchini flowers were served on a bed of lettuce that had pieces that were wilting and not fresh. We did mention this to the owner upon paying our bill and I was surprised that he reacted quite defensively insisting that their salad was fresh – it definitely was not! Overall service was very good and food was served hot. Again, as per my previous comments, the pizza was good but the crust needs to be a bit more crispy, particularly in the middle where all the juices pool up to create a soft spot in the crust. I ordered the Diavalo pizza with white (crème fraiche) sauce instead of red (tomatoe) sauce and it was very tasty with a very nice spicy italian sausage. We also ordered one of their pizza of the day specials (Mozzarella, Pesto Sauce, Basil, tomato and Lettuce); unfortunately, the pizza crust was also not crispy, and we wished that we had ordered this pizza without tomatoes and lettuce which detracted from enjoying this pizza. I also order the sfogliatella because I love the taste and texture of this Neapolitan dessert; however, I was also disappointed to find it a bit overcooked (burnt) and heavy with a cream filling but lacking in crispy light layers of pastry. Another negative to mention is that the seating is quite tight and a bit uncomfortable; in addition, it was unpleasant to be seated near the restroom door which opens right into the table sitting area and when guests don't close the door tightly, there is no spring in place to keep it closed and it opens up a bit – very unpleasant! Visiting Paris from the UK and it’s our last night. Really fancied a local decent pizza and reviews showed this as the closest and best pizza. We were given a warm welcome and although fully booked they let us sit at the counter where the pizzas are made. Wonderful service from the waitress and team, the chef is happy to chat whilst making the pizzas. Our pizzas came and wow they were incredible, best pizza I’ve had in a long time. So reasonably priced too! If they couldn’t fit us in to sit we would’ve happily got takeaway and still been happy. We are visiting Chessy and have our two families (4 adults, 4 kids) and we’re within walking distance of this awesome restaurant. We ordered 3 pizzas for take out which were ready in about 10-12 minutes. They were delicious!!! The gentleman at the register (manager? Owner?) was very polite and friendly, and also was very nice to help us by speaking very good English (our French is v limited). We brought the food back to our hotel and it did not last long at all.
