Located slightly away from the touristy Tobu Nikko Station area, this traditional sweets shop opens early and surprisingly specializes in yuba musubi - rice balls wrapped in yuba rather than traditional sweets. Locals clearly use this as a breakfast spot, lining up early for these portable, perfectly seasoned morning meals.

The yuba musubi is outstanding - clean flavors with just the right seasoning, perfect for breakfast or as portable food while sightseeing. 朝から中禅寺湖・華厳滝に向かい、社寺を巡って夕方には名古屋への帰途に付くスケジュールではゆったりランチの余裕はなくて、こちらの「ゆばむすび」に決定。わずか2個で申し訳ないくらいですが一応予約を入れておいて、店内でいただきました。

中禅寺湖から日光山への道沿い、いろは坂ドライブの疲れを「さあ東照宮観るぞー」に切り替えるのにちょうど良い辺りにお店があります。

前日の日曜はかなり混んでいたようですが、今日のイートインは貸し切り状態。 穏やかでやさしいご亭主が自らお茶を入れてくださいました。 肝心のゆばむすび、おこわのモチモチ感がすごくて少し濃いめに味付けられた半生ゆばとの組み合わせがいい感じです。 むすびをいただいている間に持ち帰りの品を用意してもらいます。

連れの友人は本棚のコミックに興味津々。置いてあったのは『ススメ!栃木部』で第1巻の表紙はこの「ゆばむすび」です。おかげで『ススメ!栃木部』にまつわるお話もご亭主から伺うことができて、私一人だったら気づかなかった、グッジョブ！

持ち帰りには、栗入り水羊かんと実家への土産に糸切り塩羊羹・蓮華石（最中）を選択。栗入り水羊かんは要冷蔵で平らに運ばなきゃなりません。 前泊のホテルのご厚意でしっかり凍らせてもらった保冷剤、重くても名古屋くんだりから持ってきた甲斐がありました。 スルスルとした喉ごしの水ようかんは、まるで日光の清水をいただいているようで絶品です。
