Chanced upon this cafe when we were wandering the streets of Nikko. We went around 4pm (near closing time as the last order was at 4.30pm) for a short break and a quick bite- the Mont Blanc in the display counter caught our eye.
We ended up ordering pancakes with strawberries, a strawberry tart (it was Amaou season) and a margherita pizza as the last Mont Blanc was snapped out by another customer.
Pancakes were deliciously fluffy, generously plated with numerous strawberry halves and topped with a mountain of fresh cream. We’re usually not a fan of cream but Japanese fresh cream is of another level.
The strawberry tart boasted glazed full strawberries on a firm pastry base. Superb.
And the margherita was delectable. Japanese dairy products are undeniably high quality and serve as excellent ingredients for menu items. The cheese on this pizza was no exception, and the tomato used in the tomato sauce was a nice balance of sweet and tangy.
