I will first say the pros and then explain the reason for 1 star. Pros: Food was awesome. Delicious. The best Indian Food I had in Berlin till date
Cons: Attitude of the lady (I assume she was the owner). I visited the restaurant with my wife. We got a table and we placed the order and drink. My wife was thirsty and we had bottle of water in the bag. She took a sip from the bottle. Now this lady comes running and says, 'Do you know, You should not bring food or water from outside. Its a rule'. I said, 'Ok, I have been to other hotels here and no one has stopped from drinking water'. Then comes her Awesome 'Gyan'. 'This is an "International Rule". You are not supposed to drink water that you bring from outside'.
I said, 'I haven't heard about such a rule, anyway we don't want to create a fuss, so I am keeping the bottle inside' and kept the bottle inside. She still ranted about the 'International Rule' that she only knows for some more time. I understand that you are not allowed to bring food or juices to hotel, but it was just plain water. I am not comfortable with the idea of buying Water in plastic bottle, whenever i visit a restaurant and most restaurant in Berlin gives you Tap water if requested. So we prefer to bring water with us. Her attitude was very rude, she was not even ready to understand the situation. Just plain rude and loud.
Agni, you just lost two customers. We will never visit your...

Food quantity - Exactly half as compared to other neighbouring Indian restaurants. Cost is slightly less or same. So in general bad quantity/cost ratio.
Food taste and quality - Paneer was old and rubbery. Gravy was sour. Randomly they had added all possible masalas and onion to the dish. Amateur who is learning indian cooking will do better job than these guys.
Ambience - Place being small is fine. But there was one old person (may be relatives of owner) sitting and eating and talking in main hall. He will only handle payment and has pathetic attitude. He will make you feel as if he is doing charity. Reality is that you are paying 10x cost for a sub-standard not-even-near-indian dish. South Indians can avoid this place.
Overall, if you feel that you have no choice in life apart from eating some weird indian-type dish by paying more money, you can go ahead.
One peculiar thing across Indian restaurant a in Germany is that they don't care about customers. Same restaurant , if in India, they would be so accommodative. Also partly because they expect extra money in terms of tip (I have no clue why to pay tip if you are not satisfied). Germans pay tip coz they think it is Indian food and will be happy for it. Indians probably won't as they already feel cheated for money they paid for...
Read moreMe and my husband both are Indians and this is the ONLY Indian restaurant we both like in Berlin. All the other places we have visited just don’t serve authentic Indian food. Adding cream on top (amongst other things) to Indian food is the first sign that It’s NOT Authentic Indian. Agni is a delight and such a welcome change from the Indian food in Berlin. In breads everything is good - try Naan, roti, kulcha, aloo parantha - all are tasty. All main dishes are tasty too. I am not sure if you need to tell them that please make it indian style with medium spicy and not very spicy - probably that helps in them serving us the right authentic stuff as we always mention that. You might want to mention that too to be served the best. The staff is polite and friendly. Service is great too. Highly...
