Ya Man Caribbean soul, food restaurant is a place where you can have authentic Jamaican food in Berlin. When you enter the location, the owner will greet you with the words. “Welcome to Jamaica.“ Expect a to wait a bit for the food to be served because it is family owner it takes time form them to get it to you. In the meantime you can enjoy the3 nice atmosphere and feel the vibration of the owner. Barbara Saltmann. I am a big fan and loyal to this restaurant. It’s one of the only authentic Jamaican restaurants in Berlin. So if you want a taste of Jamaica and you happen to be in BERLIN, this would be the place for you to come. I give it a five star review because the business is Family owned and has been running for many many years here in Berlin. It is well known amongst the Jamaican community not only that local people go there regularly to have a taste of authentic Jamaican food. This place is highly recommended by me for you to give it a chance. Give it a try give it a taste because it is very tasty when it comes to Jamaican food. In this post, you’ll see photos in short videos to give you a feeling of what it’s like to be there. As a video producer, I do like doing things like that.

Ya Man Finger licking good. An easy google search for restaurants in Moabit made me stumble upon this little gem near the hotel I was staying at. I was greeted warm-hearted by owner Barbara. She told me the place already exists for 12 years. And she was ready to give me a taste of culture. I strongly recommend that if it is your first time going to a Jamaican restaurant you order the jerk chicken. Because that’s the famous Jamaican dish. Since it was my first time here I did just that! Along with my Jerk chicken I ordered extra plaintain and a homemade ginger beer/ lemonade. Everything tasted like I wanted to expect but didn’t expect. The chicken needs a whole few sentences on itself. Because that was an experience! The meat was so tender it fell right of the bone. The crowning however was the sauce. After you finished the meat you will find your self sucking the juice off the bones like I did. Trust! This is food for the soul! YA MAN IT WAS FINGERLICKING GOOD!

This is a very small restaurant that’s brightly decorated to make you feel that you’re in the Caribbean and not in gloomy Berlin. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is delicious but I can’t say it’s authentic since the jerk chicken was more like a sweet glazed chicken. It was 0% spicy so it’s more like Jamaican food adapted to the German palate. The ackee was top notch but I’d say it’s a bit on the expensive side. So as long as you don’t go thinking that you’ll get 100% authentic Jamaican food then, you won’t get disappointed. No sorrel juice, no coco bread, and unfortunately no Jamaican patties when we went. Yes to homemade ginger beer, ackee, oxtail stew, and curry goat.

Really bad experience. I explain in the details. I stopped there to try new food, what i ordered were 2 Wrap, one Veggie and another with chicken. One bottle of still water & we decide to try a Hausegemacht Carrot & Ginger juice, until here’s everything fine. The wrap was clearly made with no fresh food, the veggie especially made with the vegetarian pack freezer for the soup. The water was a bottle of a mark you can buy easily at Kaufland for 0,23€ cents, and the Juice not at all Homemade, just to go in the details, a Homemade juice, has always more texture than a commercial one. Anyway, what shocked me is the price, 24€ for 2 Wrap + One Water + One Juice. After that i was not happy at all, and i thought that would be better to eat a Doner Kebap. The menù really old and with no pleasure to read, is clearly they invested only when they opened the restaurant, but is like a old relationship doesn't work from many years, there is no passion, no attention for the client. I ask to my self if they tried the food they give to other people, and if they would pay exactly the same price, or they would say the true like i'm saying here. I like to cook, and i can do it much better then them. When i spend my money outside in other restaurant, i expect something i cannot...

First the good thing: the food - absolutely delicious! Now the not so good things:

This place is tiny, be sure to make a reservation.

Even with a reservation you will probably have to wait because the organisation seems chaotic: three times people with reservations were sent around the block because their table wasn't free.

There are too many tables and chairs stuffed into the place for us to feel comfortable: be ready to either get brushed constantly by waiter and people squeezing by, or having to share a table in close space with strangers.

You have to wait a long time for your bill, since owner, cook and cashier are one person. The waiter doesn't take your money. Then you will be asked what you had since apparently they don't keep track of orders.

When we honestly mentioned this to the owner, we were brushed off with "pah, in Jamaica everything is close quarters". Not a service oriented reaction to constructive criticism.

So if you are into close quarter socializing with strangers, this is your place. If you want to have a quiet romantic dinner with some personal space like we did, go...
