Alcatraz — Restaurant in Berlin

To be upfront with you I only had two things here because I am a single diner and the portions are rather large. So to start off I arrived 20 minutes early to my reservation and they were able to accommodate me at 1210 rather than 1230 but in all fairness I was the only one there on a Sunday and they literally had just opened. I initially ordered a classic margarita which btw is lime on the rocks with salt which I didn’t mind bc it was strong and good like I liked it! Next I asked about the quesadillas and turns out I can only order in a full order for two... well sometimes my eyes think I can eat for two but the reality is that I can’t so I opted for nachos instead. The nachos were a rather large portion which was great and honestly this is about the only place that knows how to do nachos in Germany so I was stoked. They were loaded with plenty of chips and cheese and meat but I was sad I couldn’t order the type of meat I wanted. I asked for beef and she ran off but I wanted to try the barbacoa because any Mexican living in Germany knows barbacoa is super difficult to find but I didn’t get a choice of beef that I wanted. The nachos were a bit greasy but as the tequila from the margarita hit me I started to enjoy them much much more. I didn’t have anything else so I can’t recommend for much else but I do know the portion sizes are rather large and it’s kind of pricey. Mexican food is supposed to be a rather cheap eat but since this is Germany I suppose that it’s the price we must pay if we can’t anything closely relating to Mexican food we know and don’t have to...

It was a nice time and lots of veggo options. Prices were pretty high in my opinion tho.

I tried the frozen strawberry mocktail which was delish! Very sweet tho.

We were a big group to serve and the food came out a bit in waves. Some of the poor group were waiting over an hour and by the time theirs came, most people were well finished.

The service was friendly and the roasted vegetable and the sweet potato burrito 🌯 were yum. The sweet potato one was a bit dry, but otherwise I enjoyed.

Lots of seating areas inside and out. Service was friendly. There were some stairs to navigate into the building and the toilets 🚻 ...

Seit unserem letzten Besuch muss ich meine Rezension korrigieren: Der Service ist nicht zu empfehlen. Nachdem wir uns gesetzt hatten (auf den reservierten Tisch), kam nach 14 min die Kellnerin, um die Bestellung aufzunehmen. Nach weiteren 15 min hatten wir unsere Getränke (nur Säfte und ein Bier!!!). Nach in Summe 45min hatten wir die Vorspeise! Nach insgesamt 1h20min die Hauptspeisen. Als Erklärung sagte die Kellnerin, daß nach der Vorspiese noch einige Bestellungen dazwischen gekommen sind. Ich habe 7 Lieferdienstfahrer gezählt. Also nächstes Mal im Restaurant Platz nehmen, und dann lieber bei Lieferando oder per uber bestellen, die werden schneller bedient! Als Entschädigung spendierte uns die Kellnerin 2 Desserts umsonst. Die wollten wir nur, wenn das auch nicht wieder so lange dauert.... Nach Rücksprache mit der Küche sagte sie 9min, dann nahmen wir das Angebot an! Insgesamt waren wir über 2h dort, nur um zu Essen. Das ist zu viel!

Kein guter Service mehr, leider etwas langsam... Speisen top Qualität, aber seit der Umgestaltung der Speisekarte in den letzten Monaten recht teuer. Zudem wurde die Auswahl deutlich reduziert: Keine Fisch- oder Garnelengerichte mehr. Das ist echt schade! Die Bowls sind auch sehr teuer: 16€ für einen einfachen Teller Reis mit Beilage... Die Fajitas, nachwievor riesen Portion und super lecker!!!! Mit der get2card lohnt es sich auf jeden Fall, da die Cocktails auch spitze sind. Nette Atmosphäre, immer gut besucht, also am Abend auf jeden Fall...
