Amma is a restaurant serving Indian and Singaporean fare. I came across this only recently and then learnt that it had only opened about a month or two ago. This restaurant is located opposite S Bahn Station called Feuerbachstraße in Friedenau locality. There is also a bus stop across the street. U9 is the closest U Bahn stopping at Walther Schreiber Platz. The restaurant apparently is part of a chain of restaurants which by the same name runs in a couple of other locations in Berlin. The restaurant seating area is pretty big. There is seating available inside, around the periphery of the restaurant and outside the restaurant. I personally like the periphery option. The three types of seating offers three different ambiences. There is also a nice bar attached. A lot of artistic influence is visible. The staff is polite and accommodating and provide warm hospitality. Menu offers a lot of options for a-la-carte choices, though I can't figure out much of Singaporean options as such in the menu. There are also quite a few combos for two or more persons. On workdays, special lunch menu is also available. Food and beverages are comfortably priced. I liked the way how chicken was cooked. It was soft and succulent unlike the fibrous or rubbery ones you might find in many similar restaurants these days. Take away is also possible. On the whole my experiences so far have been very good and would recommend visiting ...
Read moreI visited the Amma restaurant in Steglitz on the day of their grand opening. I arrived pretty late - less than half an hour before they closed - but preparing my order which comprised five different menu items wasn't a problem at all.

I truly hope they'll keep up the quality. Twelve bucks for a dish is certainly not cheap for Berlin standards, but it was definitely worth it, not only because it was really good but also because it was - as mentioned - big enough to satisfy even a big guy like me.
I'm certainly looking forward to trying more of what they have to offer.
One last note because I don't see it mentioned on their website: Paying by card is possible (I...
Read moreThe restaurant needs to improve on several things if it wants to remain attractive to the customers.
First, the service needs to be more customer friendly. The role of the server is to serve: be attentive, wanting to fulfill the needs of the customer, to show kindness and friendliness. In here, the server unfortunately shows displeasure and annoyance when a customer expresses an additional wish.
Second, the food is not well seasoned. The taste is very bland. I've never eaten Indian food that had no taste. Even the red sauce had zero spice, it tasted like watered down ketchup! What is wrong? Even in this part of the world people like to eat food that has some taste. The portions are big, and I was able to take half of my dish home. It tasted way better on the next day, once I was able to add...
