i was there yesterday on 31st december. to start of, the cocktails were pretty fine just not the food. we had the 5 course meal and it was definitely not good. first there was this butterfish which didn’t taste fresh of course but it wasn’t that bad. the second were oysters, they weren’t that special either but really overrated. then there was this big shrimp with potatoes that was the only meal that tasted good which wasn’t that warm either but it tasted good. then there was this rice cake in some sauce (i forgot what it was called) it was absolutely disgusting. i’m so sorry and i’m sure they put effort in (or not) but it was absolutely terrible for all of us. we were 6 people and 3 had to go out because they got nauseous from the food especially that one with the rice cakes which tasted like a bad attempt of the korean tteokboki. it made my entire mouth dry and itchy and i don’t know what they put in there but only 1 person out of 6 were able to finish it. since we’ve eaten that, we’ve all become sick and it’s so sad for the restaurant because the cocktails are good and the waitress too just the food was not great. the dessert was okay too but not special. it’s sad because we paid almost or even about 400€ for everyone (including drinks) and for that quality of food.. that’s just sad. we all agreed on never going that place again, maybe for drinks but not for the food. i’m sorry but the waitress was so sweet and the drinks were good too but please don’t make food.

Neighborhood restaurants and bars in Berlin can be hit or miss affairs, but BARDAF, a new small plates bar with excellent food and wine, is definitely a hit. On a recent evening, we sampled an amazing selection of fresh, briny oysters, a sparkling ceviche of shrimp, cucumbers and jalapeños, pork belly with hot mustard, hearty flatbreads with aubergine, and two salads. Drinks are generous and well made, and the selection is perfect for the flavorful dishes. Service is professional but friendly and casual as befits the neighborhood vibe of the place. A must visit in Berlin.

My wife and I had a great experience here just before Christmas. It was the perfect Christmas gift for her, as we enjoyed everything about our evening. Our waitress was nice, enjoyed the ambience and the cocktails were tasty. We shared several plates, tapas style...kimchi fried rice, dumplings, fried chicken (karaage), rice with shiitake mushrooms, fried pak choi, all delicious. Loved the oysters the most. A bit pricey for us, but for Christmas, worth every penny. We hope you reopen soon!

Unfortunately we had a not so great experience this valentines day.

First we needed to wait for our reserved table. Then the obviously understaffed service personel struggled to tend to our table. The one girl unfortunately didnt know what tonights menu was or how much it cost. There werent any printed versions available either. The more experienced waitress apparently knew, but she never really explained it to us. So anyways we ordered the menu just knowing that borscht was not available anymore but not what the rest really entails. After around 40 min of waitng we finally got served bread and (I think anchovy) butter. It was tasty but we got 3 small slice of bread for 2 people. After repeatedly asking for some more bread it seemed that they were out. After 10 or so more minutes we got the appetizer: Dumplings in clear soup. The dumplings were ok but the soup was obviously just rushed together to replace the borscht. In total it was ok, but reminded me more of something you quickly whip up at home than a nice dish in a restaurant.

After the soup we receiced a second, more generous serving of bread (a little late but ok)

After another 10 min we got our main dish - lamb. This was really good, fresh and of high quality.

Due to our lack of time we did not get to enjoy the desert part of this valentines menu, which is ok, we could have planned more time. But of course with a faster service it would have fit as well..

Nevertheless the waitress offered us a small discount for our trouble. I understood it was 10€ a person, which seemed fair for missing out on dessert and basically the appetizer as well. But after we left, we saw online the prize of tonights menu. We then realized that we got deducted 5€ a person. So in total we paid 95€ for some bread, clear soup, lamb with two glasses of wine & a lot of waiting. This unfortunately left a sour feeling with us, we felt kind of ripped of. I...

Honestly, we didn’t get this place at all. We came right when it opened. One waitress was there, and she seemed uninterested and unwelcoming. Asking for anything felt awkward.

Service was super underwhelming: tea came in a glass (instead of a mug) that was way too hot to hold, and honey was in a plastic bottle with no spoon. I ordered the shiitake mushroom carbonara — the menu said €8.5, but someone had scribbled by pen not clearly a “1” next to it, and in the end we discovered it meant €18.5. No one warned us or explained anything while taking the order.

The pasta was bland and unsalted — they brought salt separately only after the chef realized it post-serve. I mean just boiled pasta with almost no sauce and unsalted mushrooms for 18 EUR. To top it off, an elderly guy at the next table got a burnt dish...

Only win? The oysters — great price and genuinely tasty.

Other than that, the place felt cold, unfriendly to customers, and kind of soulless. I...
