Café&Bar Naranj — Restaurant in Berlin

1.5h waiting for food, no sorry and rude treatment...

The place was busy as usual for Cafés in Berlin on Sundays. Coffee arrived fast-ish and was good but our breakfast did not come for a long time... The person serving food came to us twice with other people's orders. The second time with wrong food we even repeated our order to him. After ~1h15m waiting time (in which btw noone came to check on us or to offer us another coffee) and us realising that people who came way after us had already gotten their food, my friend asked the guys about our food which lead to them apparently realising they have forgotten us / mixed orders up. We then finally got our breakfast more than 1,5h after arriving.

When proceeding to pay my friend asked politely if it would be possible to maybe have a small discount for the inconvenience thinking maybe a coffee on the house or similar to which the (we believe) owner reacted very rude. First he told my friend she is a rude and quote "inhumane" person for asking that and then he simply denied that we waited a long time acting as if we were lying and/or the waiting time of 1.5 hours for your food is normal. Not even a word of sorry whatsoever.

As you can see from the many reviews I write I usually do not leave negative reviews. However, I want to leave this review for the owner (or his staff) to maybe reconsider their communication and treatment of customers. If you can't or do not want to give us a small gesture of sorry a simple no sorry can't do and AT LEAST a simple apology would have gone ways instead of attacking my friend personally, portraying her as a bad inhumane person and denying the truth. THAT is just outright rude.

Seems like a decently-priced and cozy place however my experience with the manager left a sour taste in my mouth. First I sat down on the couch in the back. This entire section of the cafe was empty. Since it was just me and the seating area had capacity for few more people, I was asked to switch to a table with chair. Fair enough. I switched seats and ordered a mocha and started working on my laptop. An hour later, I grabbed my bottle of water to have a sip and he came in to tell me I'm not allowed to drink from a "plastic" Nalgene bottle that's not from the cafe. Best cafe I have been while in Berlin!! I was brought here by a friend and when I entered I immediately liked the vibe, the atmosphere was very homey and chill. The food was delicious, honestly. Best vegetarian meal I had so far, hands down. I also tried their dessert and I had it with coffee, which was an authentic Arabic coffee btw. You just have to try it yourself, you won't be disappointed. I stayed for a while and had a chat with the owner and staff. They were very generous and kind.
