Cafe Luise - Schäfer's — Restaurant in Berlin

En route to an appointment, we came upon this unassuming cafe which turned out to be one of the best places to eat during our stay in Berlin Mitte. We made a point to return daily, and happy to report that each and every time, the counter service was top notch--overly courteous and patient even though we struggled with food labels (we don't know any German). The hot beverages were super as was everything we tried, both sweet and savory baked goodies. Highly recommend! A shot away from the medical campus and a couple of stops from the central train station, Cafe Luise combines the gilded age decor with cozy plush seating tables and booths. It's more than just another coffee shop, as their offering of desserts, snacks and sandwiches is very extensive. You can easily bring your kids here, as there are baby stools and areas where kids can draw and color. And while the coffee selection is not large, it is definitely generous and not overpriced for the quality you get. During our journey in Berlin for the easter holidays, we really have trouble with some opened cafe and accidentally we saw cafe Cafe Luise. This place looks very cozy and was opened on a day off. We had breakfast at once and then decided that every morning till end of trip will begin in this place.
