I have been to this store about 15 years ago as a student, then somewhere again as an early years corporate professional (you dress to impress) and again this year as a senior level corporate professional who doesn’t give a xxx about what I wear because I’m not here to impress anyone other than myself.
This shop has always observed every move of mine when inside the store, as if I’m there to steal. It’s shocking that in this day and age they see customers as potential “criminals” based on what they dress. Quite snobby. Honestly Douglas, you should know better by now but even after 15 years your snobby behaviour hasn’t changed.
I work for a FTSE 250, on HENRY annual salary and I don’t need to be at the receiving end of your staff member’s down looking behaviour based on my skin colour or what I wear. I have been to all of London’s fancy department stores and in other parts of the world and nowhere have I faced this kind of backward attitude of staff members towards their customers. Not even at the KaDeWE.
I better spend my money at the nearby Kadewe who are well more accustomed to a diverse pool of customers and certainly know that not everyone walks around in fancy clothes 365 days a year. Some people want to walk around in their jogging bottoms after walking around in suits most of the year. The way people dress has nothing and I say absolutely nothing to do with one’s education level, the kind of job they do or how much they take home or how much they’d spend at Douglas. Your staff needs to stop behaving like they have done their PhD and are working for some high profile government jobs when in reality they are just people working in retail, and yet walk around with an attitude that needs urgent fixing. Many people have pointed out similar things in this review section, so it’s not an isolated incident, and in my case it’s going on for almost two decades (!!).

Read moreI was there for Black Friday sales, got all my skin care products from there but couldn’t find some of them, and a girl who was standing there said I only help about the specific brand that I‘m standing next to it, the rest is not my job and go find some body else!! Then I went to the cash point to pay and another girl with angel outfit was standing there and I said I forgot my membership card, can I give you my email address?she took it and then the final price for all the products that I got was very high, I said did you use website prices?! She said no you can get website price or 20% off on store prices do you understand?!? And I was shock for the way that she was talking very rude and with disrespectful tone! I said firstly when I give you my email address it means I want the website prices secondly I thought I can get 20% off on website prices, and she scream that you can get website price or 20% off, not both do you get it?! Then she took out her custom and said I can’t continue anymore! Read moreI visited the store last week looking to purchase a concealer and a foundation from Mac, but wanted help in choosing the right shade for my mum. Nobody helped in spite of me asking the staff for help, and there was this one woman who was extremely rude at us. I felt extremely bad. I help my mum and we were in the store for more than half an hour choosing shades by our self. I also saw some elderly women next to me standing/waiting for a long time seeking for help with some product but no staff was bothered, as the staffs were busy chatting with each other dancing and choose to ignore customers. These were three young staffs. I honestly did not feel welcome at all, but ended up spending €300 and I definitely don’t deserve to be ignore and spoken rude too.
