The best is the atmosphere but that's it. The cake I ordered as Apple cake tasted like pear (maybe my taste, maybe just the wrong sign at the cake bar) and was pretty soggy, the coffee is okay (Given the prices you pay you don't get what you pay for). But the worst is the service that does not deserve to be called service in my opinion.
I was waiting in line and someone not able to speak German but English only ordered a water and a bagle. The cashier told him they'd be out of bagels while someone else from the staff standing right behind him was preparing...bagels. This guy turns around to the customer and you'd think he'd kindly ask him what kind of bagel he'd like so he could be so kind and make that bagle for the customer quickly...anyone with some sense for service would think that, right? But this staff member just turns around to tell the customer "Come back in 30 minutes, then these will be done." I think this is an absolute no-go when it comes to service and was the first red flag for me.
I was next in line and asked the cashier in German (my mother tongue and the staff was speaking German to each other, I thought I'd make the safe choice) if he'd be so kind to give me a small paper bag so I could put my wallet, shades and a little plastic bottle of water in it to be able to hold the cup of coffee that I'm about to purchase. The cashier obviously didn't understand me so before I could switch to English his other colleague (not the bagel guy) turned to him and explained to him what I asked for. Not understanding me is totally fine, I don't mind that. What I do mind is after understanding my kind question with the help of his colleague the cashier looked at me like I asked for the impossible and how I could dare to ask him that question that would make him have to move, reach out with his arm, grab a paper bag with a weight of maybe 10grams, walk back two steps and pass me that paper bag of course without a smile but that "you all bother me" face that made me very uncomfortable.
So uncomfortable that I decided to kindly tell him that if that would be too much for him I'd be fine to just leave, no hard feelings. Now instead of an apology his colleagues turned to me and defended this as "he didn't understand you"...which in other words is just telling me that I'd be the one making a mistake here. I kindly told them that this is not about not understanding me but the feeling I have as a customer about the cashiers lack of kindness. Still nothing remotely apologetic. That is fine, nobody has to be kind to me or to anyone else. But as a customer I can make a decision too...or many decisions in the future. These decisions will always carry that impression at this Coffee Fellows store.
Sorry, Coffee Fellows. Your coffee is okay and I'm sure the cake can be too if it's fresh and not soggy yet. But the staffs behavior is what will make me not come back. I don't even blame these young persons in staff. It's not their responsibility to be trained properly.
Update: I totally forgot to mention this even though it doesn't make anything better. Maybe the staff should be aware that when the window to their "kitchen" is open and directed to the outside seating area it's not a good idea to gossip about customers. Just an idea to make it...
Read moreIn theory this would be a nice spot to, for instance, have breakfast before heading to the train station. This is a charming little cafe with underwhelming service.
We arrived soon after doors opened and were greeted by a staff member too busy talking on the phone. Although, he was very good at multitasking because he took our orders of six different items while simultaneously preserving the quality of conversation he continued to engage in over the phone.
The moment that became excruciatingly frustrating was picking up my order. Upon reaching the counter, instead of using words to communicate with me, I was directed with a hand gesture and an impatient expression to take my order and go.
I can’t even comment on the food and drink because I just wanted to finish my meal and leave. But hey, there’s plenty of seating to reflect on a...
Read moreI really like the concept of working space. It has nice design and one nice and one not nice bartender. I wouldn't expect in working space so much loud music that your own thoughts dissappear in it. When ordering coffee the bartender without any trying gives you what he wants. When he does not understand you, it is your fault. When wind blows like hell and storm comes he sits at his computer. When trying to help him is more like bother him. This person doesn't belong here. (Tatooed one) The owner should consider, while using italian names of coffee, to learn how it is made. Large espresso is really not tripple thing in a bucket. I really don't know and uderstand S M L sizes? What is that? T-shirt? 😤 The big windows are still open even the weather is not good, if it is outside windy or colder you will...
