A Disappointing Detour into Modern Art

I had planned to visit a nearby museum but ended up at this modern art gallery due to the long queue at the museum. Unfortunately, the visit was a regretful experience.

First and foremost, this gallery is dedicated to modern art—a genre I admittedly don't appreciate or understand. Whether it's painting, photography, or modern dance, modern art simply doesn't resonate with me. Thus, my opinion is admittedly biased as a regular person with no special interest in this form of art.

Upon entering the gallery, I was immediately struck by the lack of air conditioning, making the visit physically uncomfortable. One room, in particular, was filled with dry flowers and wet wood, emitting a strong odor of manure that was nearly unbearable.

As someone who suffers from "Virtual Motion Sickness," I found the room with flickering lights and moving black-and-white objects on the screen to be particularly problematic. There were no warning signs indicating the potential for flicker vertigo or other adverse reactions, which could pose a risk to visitors with similar conditions.

The content of the exhibits was also troubling. One piece featured a man repeatedly sleeping and contemplating suicide—an image that was disturbingly depressive and repetitive.

Additionally, the exhibition included substantial nudity, making it inappropriate for the numerous families with young children who were present. It's essential for the gallery to provide clear advisories about the adult nature of some exhibits.

The gallery staff were unfriendly, adding to the overall negative experience. The gallery itself is divided into six sections, one of which consisted of a pile of sand with three people performing modern dance by crawling on the floor—a display that left me more puzzled than impressed.

The souvenir shop offered no respite from the discomfort of the gallery. Items available were photographs of buttocks and books on nudity, which did not appeal to my taste.

In conclusion, this gallery visit was far from enjoyable. As someone who prefers classical Greek statues and traditional paintings, I found the experience boring and distasteful. If modern art is not your cup of tea, I would recommend steering clear of...

The gallery itself is divided into six sections, one of them the one in which you hear music that is a mixture of the sounds of people screaming in pain or torture — that’s how it felt — and the barking of dogs.” I can’t understand the propose of that !!

In conclusion, this gallery visit was far from enjoyable, I found the experience boring and distasteful. don’t recommend this place for people with a classic taste who prefer to stay away from complicated , unclear thing, headache, the anxiety, and the excessive flickering lights. For me the visit was a waste of time and money — €16 per person is just...

I was telling my mum how great the Hamburger Museum is, well I was wrong. Our museum experience was spoiled by the incompetent staff.

The gentleman at the ticket office didn't feel like greeting us nor like talking and listening. He sold us the wrong tickets. I kindly explained that I have asked for tickets to see all the art, and that he sold us tickets to see the 'Sonderaustellung'. Growing up in Berlin I am pretty much used to the Berlin moody attitude. However, he clearly couldn't be bothered with his job and felt it was right to argue with us and question our ability to know what we came for. When I made a remark ' What has happened to the client is always right?'. His respond was ' I don't believe in this.' On top he felt like making us feel even worse for getting a refund for the wrong tickets. My mum and I felt like telling him to keep the tickets and just leave. He had a terrible arrogant attitude. After finally getting the right tickets we decided to forget about this terrible start and walk around the museum. Well, I could go on and on. To summaries it, worse museum experience ever. Staff is rude, arrogant, incompetent, moody and lazy. It doesn't hurt to smile! To be honest after the terrible encounter we were not able to enjoy any of the art and left after 5 mins. Waste of time,...
