A hotel so nice, I just have to post twice! Left a review on Travelocity when we got back but I have to share that if you’re reading this review and you’re on the fence about staying at the Steinenberger, save your time and just book it. I’m an avid review reader and am here to say that words cannot describe how amazing our stay was!!! You step outside the Hauptbahnhof (on the side with the Rewe to boot) and you’re already there. Convenience is an understatement and we were spoiled rotten with how easy it was to grab a pastry and hit the trains, trams, and u-bahn. The grounds were gorgeous and felt super safe. We were greeted by Onur (and the residential robot cat, Ella). He might be the best concierge we have ever met. What an amazing representation of your awesome city—recommending personalized sites for us to see that transcend the typical Berlin experience as well as recommended food and convenient spots near the hotel we’d need to know. He was beyond delightful and set the stage for the next two days. Now to the good stuff. The rooms? Immaculate. Virtually silent, we couldn’t hear anything around us or outside which is crazy because of how insanely close we were to the HBF. Completely spotless, beautiful lighting that was (and I never use this word) elegant, and calming. We didn’t really have a view, but didn’t really need one thanks to jet lag. We enjoyed several hours of Bernd das Brot on the tv. The bed was unbeLIEVABLY comfortable. If we were in any other city I’d had just stayed in bed all day. The soft pillow changed my life. The bathroom was swanky and beautiful,…the SHOWER?! Water pressure was supreme, temperature, impeccable. Housekeeping was awesome. I would live in that room for the rest of my life if I could. Between the staff, technology, and hotel as a whole you really set off Berlin for us. It breaks my heart to leave. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I’m hoarding all my disposable income to come back. We appreciate everything you did for us! You can’t go wrong with this hotel!

Room 649 - loose/broken toilet seat, occupational/health hazard!! First the good things: 1. Location - located right across from central Berlin train station (Hauptbahnhof) so it is a 24/7 hub (you’ll always have food & beverages nearby) 2. Clean & modern, spacious rooms. The upgrades is just a higher floor. 3. Housekeeping is immaculate each day & they change the towels. 4. There is a pillow menu - I asked them to bring me one of each to try, and they did. Not-so-nice things: • There is a funny burning plastic/diesel smell in the lifts. Today there was a weed (cannabis) smell that engulfed the lifts. Really unpleasant and magnified because the lifts are quite slow. After the third time & day 3 of 6-night stay complaining the toilet seat was broken and a hazard - I gave up. They either didnt want to deal with it or could not care. I even left the cleaner a hand written note on the toilet on day 3 and a note for reception in case they noted down the wrong room number. The issue was that each time you sat down, the seat would come off and slide on the toilet bowl - VERY DANGEROUS. Either the seat was mounted to the wrong holder or just broken. Anyone older or with less mobility would have broken their hip by now… each day was just getting through with all bones intact using this toilet. If it werent for the Berlin Marathon being this same weekend, I would have asked for another room. If you do get this room, check the toilet seat as you are sitting on it and change rooms until they fix it. In any other country a service person would have come within the hour to look at it. Would have received a much higher score if this was dealt with during any of the 6 nights of the stay!!!

I just got back from a week in Berlin. I was there doing historical research for a project I'm working on. I chose the Steigenberger mostly due to the combination of great reviews and location to the main train station. I was not disappointed, but as is always the case with travel, you have to be flexible. Yes, this is a very nice and well-run hotel. That is true. The breakfast was amble and tasty with the management efficient and accommodating. I looked forward to getting down to the 1st floor early to eat and get my day on. I had a Deluxe room which was plenty large, but perhaps to an American used to absurdly big sizes for just about everything, this room seemed about average size to me. Just a subjective thing I suppose. Traveling alone you can adjust to anything, but if I was with my wife she'd be unhappy with just a shower and no bath. Not a problem for me. Again, if you're an American traveling in Germany for the first time, perhaps you should ask about getting full sheets and blankets instead of the two small duvets and square fold-over pillow that they provide. I'm accustomed to them but I know that it can get a little hot with them. I only had one small issue, and it was nothing. During the first night it got stuffy and the room air condition controls wouldn't work. Luckily the room's windows opened up a bit. I mentioned it to the front desk in the morning and they determined that the computer thought I was checked out and shut down the A/C system. That was quickly resolved with a sincere apology. When I'm back in Berlin I'll be staying here again.

EXZELLENTER SERVICE!!! – MODERNES HOTEL – HERVORRAGENDES FRÜHSTÜCK - 1 A ||Lage|Bewertung zu Steigenberger Hotel Am Kanzleramt|Bewertet 24.

This is with respect to comments posted by my sister Usha Nair and the GM Daniel Hunger's reply to her. Our group of six senior citizens ( all ladies) checked into your hotel on 24/03/2023 and checked out on 26/03/2023. Now the issue. I read your response to Ms Nair's review. Her review was mainly on the dismal treatment we received from your hotel receptionist on 24/03/2023, when she kept us waiting for almost an hour, saying that she couldn't find our booking.Your reply said that the hotel voucher we provided, didn't contain any information that would have been helpful for the receptionist to find our booking. This is definitely not the case. Our hotel voucher had the following details. Hotel details Check in and check out dates No: of nights Voucher number: 230222/03 ( original voucher number) Hotel confirmation no: GH9972 Nationality Names of guests

Mr Hunger has also stated that our names were not correctly mentioned. Let me mention here that two women in the group had the same first name. This doesn't mean that the names were incorrectly mentioned. I have worked in the Grand Hyatt five star hotel in Melbourne, Australia and am very aware of how the hotel reception works. All your receptionist had to do, was to key in the hotel voucher number and or the confirmation number and it would have brought up our booking. If she had any doubts about our names, she could have asked to see our passports to confirm. She insisted on an email from our agent, reconfirming the booking. That itself tells us that there's a confirmation already and she needs to re confirm. We informed her that it was midnight in India and that it would be hard to get out travel agent. We then showed her the copy of the email sent by our agent to the hotel which was cc'd to us on our phones. Even that wasn't enough. One of us, managed to get our agent and asked her to re send the email. The agent said she will do that. Then the next instant, the receptionist said that she found our booking, even before the email was sent. By this time, we had been waiting, tired and worn out for almost an hour. I would only put this down as lack of empathy for senior citizens and lack of customer service training. We wouldn't have minded the wait if the receptionist had a friendly and welcoming disposition. In fact we felt like some vagabonds who had wandered into the hotel asking for rooms. She greeted us with a good evening but had no smile or a welcoming friendliness on her face. Later as we were walking away, we didn't fail to notice the same receptionist and the delightful way in which she greeted other guests behind us (all Caucasian). We had travelled over Paris, Amsterdam and Prague using similar hotel vouchers and none of the hotels had any issue with our hotel vouches. We felt that we were treated like this, probably because of our skin colour, which is very sad in this day and age.

Dear Mr Hunger, Thanks for your reply. Glad to know that you are addressing our issue internally. Great to hear that you strongly advocate against racism. However, I was informing you of how the whole group felt and nothing can take that away from us. Now that you are addressing this in your internal performance reviews, I'm sure we will have a better experience, the next time we travel there. Thank you for your...

As a traveler in a post-pandemic world, there are situations that will arise that there may not be any precedent for. What was meant to be a 3 day stay in Berlin before my departure flight was extended to 4 times that amount and it could have been a nightmare, but I hold very fond memories of my time in Berlin in great part due to my experience at Steigenberger Hotel Am Kanzleramt, Berlin.

This hotel has everything you would expect from a hotel of its calibre - great location (2 min walk to Berlin Central Station), spacious modern rooms, delicious food options but what really elevates and differentiates it from other options to make it truly exceptional is the staff and the care, courtesy, and compassion that coloured their every interaction with us.

In any new or challenging situation, especially in a foreign country, it is so rare to find those who care enough to advocate for you and your situation to ensure your needs are met to the best of their capabilities and in this aspect, Richard Schmidt and the rest of the staff truly went above and beyond.

They did everything to ensure that we felt like we were provided for, while also communicating with the appropriate German authorities on our behalf and they kept us updated every step of the way and even informed us of newly passed regulations that would benefit us in our situation.

Another member of the staff, Felix, demonstrated his excellent problem solving capabilities and willingness to help through providing three separate possible solutions when we presented him with a request for what we needed from our travel insurance provider.

There are so many risks and unknown variables associated with travelling now during covid times, but the decision to stay at Steigenberger Hotel Am Kanzleramt will always be worth the investment because you can be sure that even in the event that you're tossed into an unfamiliar situation, the staff will be there to help guide you through every step of the way as a trusted advisor navigating through unfamiliar territory. That type of assurance is worth more than money can buy.

You have our sincerest heartfelt thanks Richard, Felix and the entire wonderful staff at Steigenberger Hotel Am Kanzleramt - you can be sure that this will most definitely be our go-to location whenever we...
