Berlin's reputation for being rude is no secret, and I've been a regular at Frollain Langner for years. But with the current bartender around, I won't be coming back.
Approaching the empty bar, I catch the bartender's eye, raise my hand, and ask for a beer. Pretty normal, right? Apparently not; A vague hand gesture of the bartender signals I should move to another spot at the bar, not any closer to them. Baffled and visibly annoyed by their silent treatment, I move to the indicated spot, aiming to reorder. However, before I could even place my order, the bartender launches into an unsolicited lecture about my attitude, insisting I need to adjust it. I try to diffuse the situation, asking them to just give me the beer and let it go, but they refuse and threaten to kick me out. Thirsty and frustrated, I head back to my table. Eventually, we decide to leave, and since our tab was open, we settle the bill. Confronting the bartender about their behavior, they become defensive, repeatedly insisting I need to "fix" myself, I should seek therapy and even accusing me of threatening them. Being accused of such behaviour by the very person that threatened to kick me out due to a perceived attitude to me seems like a blatant case of projecting their own behaviour onto me.
I loved the place, but this time around I left with my middle finger up in the air. Not my best moment, but after being treated like that I...
Read moreI've lived in this area for over 10 years. Frollein Langner used to be one of my favorite bars, and I always loved hanging out there. Unfortunately the service quality has declined in the past couple of years and it now it hits rock bottom.
I can confirm what the other reviews said about the rude bartenders. Its incredible how unfriendly and aggressive the bartenders treat the customers, almost as if they are intentionally trying to drive the bar out of business.
The last straw was when I caught the bartender overcharging me twice for my drinks in the same night. The first time he added a euro to the cost of my drink, I thought it was an honest mistake and politely corrected him while pointing at the correct price on the menu. Next round, he pulled the same trick again and tried to overcharge me. I pointed to the correct price on the menu again, and this time he started yelling at me. Yes, you read this correctly. The bartender was yelling at me because I caught him overcharging me for my drink twice.
Its very sad to see Frollein Langner be placed in the hands of incompetent, dishonest, and rude staff....
Read moreI usually love the drinks and the shots there, but tonight I left feeling a little weird... As soon as two shots for me and my boyfriend were poured, I accidentally dropped one of them when trying to pick it up, and it fell into the bar sink since it was so close to the edge. The bartender (a buff, young looking guy) poured me another one and then told me that he would have to charge me extra for the spill.
I also work in restaurants, and I've never worked anywhere that you would charge a guest for accidental spills at all. I was shocked but didn't say anything at all.
It's a shame because I generally like the vibe of the place, and the woman who was the bartender last time I was there was very sweet and very helpful. But in addition to people coming in and out to sell you stuff all night long, I wouldn't say that it's a bar where I can come and just relax because I always feel like I have to be on guard. And now, after being charged extra money for a drink that I didn't even get to have since it was spilled, I won't be...
