The gates of the park area were open when we arrived - which means you were not closed. The restaurant doors were open and you served people inside who arrived later than me - which means you were not closed.
I am not surprised by the gentleman's response, as it seems many others have experienced such situations, hence the proliferation of one star reviews.
I have updated my review today to take into account the extremely disappointing 'service' we received from the younger gentleman that was responsible for closing the restaurant at 6pm.
I arrived with my son on the back of a bike at 6.02 pm, and the two metal gates at the front of the restaurant were still OPEN. I stopped immediately outside the restaurant and started to take my son out of this bike seat (which took 20 seconds). This was in full view of the gentleman server. It was obvious we were planning on coming into the restaurant.
Five other customers went past us and into the restaurant as my son was getting out of the seat. As we then went to enter, the young gentleman started to close the metal gate and informed us that 'the restaurant is closed'. He then went into the restaurant. My son then started crying. All he wanted was a piece of cake to take home.
The other customers who arrived LATER than us, but passed us due to my son exiting the bike seat, were served, but we were denied, despite arriving before them.
I went into the restaurant and asked the gentleman if we could just order some pieces of cake to take away, but he decided that the extra two minutes of his time that it would have taken to satisfy this request was simply too much for him.
I left the restaurant and took my son elsewhere.
I will NO longer visit the place as a result of this gentleman's unnecessary impolite behaviour. Whomever the gentleman is, you should consider analysing the situation before you make such...

Negatives: the ordering process is just nonsense. They gave us no cake menu just a drinks menu. When we went inside to order we were told to pick a table and the waiter would come. When he came I asked him what cakes were available and he sighed, put his order pad away and looked mildly disgusted. He said "go inside and see, I will come back when you are ready" as if it was somehow our fault. So inside we went again to view the cakes. The woman inside was nice to be fair trying to translate some of the cake information for me. That was very kind and appreciated. So back out at the table it took a few goes to get the waiter's attention, he took our order and all was well until we requested the bill. He went off to get it then came back outside, served 4 other tables, laughed and joked and generally took his time, walked past us at least 6 times, I eventually had to go inside and ask him had he forgotten, which happens, no problem, but he looked at me like I was pestering him and said "just pay at the counter...
Read moreVery rude staff. All three persons inside and watering outside became rather rude as soon as they understood I’m not speaking German. There is no menu for the food (drinks only), so you have to go inside to select the desert. But you can’t order it from inside, you have to memorize a long name in German and go back to your table waiting for the waiter to take your order from the table. If you didn’t remember the name, you have to go back inside to make a picture of it, but waiters would not even try to help you. Actually opposite, it felt like they were enjoying themselves “not helping the tourist”. Also this place does not have wifi. And they were so proud of that fact. It might be an okay cafe for the locals, but definitely not tourists friendly one.
Nobody would help you to select a desert from the unknown cakes. You would have to make decision based on the cake’s appearance The drink was okay, but the cake felt not fresh, like it was from...
