Not a good experience. Went today for lunch, and when I was checking the menu (I do ir mainly in asian restaurants) I always check for the all the allergies specified in it as i am allergic to shrimps (Garnelen). Some allergens acronyms were specified in the fried stuff and milk-wise products, but there was no list in the menu saying what those acronyms meant (not having this is quite illegal in Europe). Anyways, as those allergens where specified and the Shrimps were written in every dish, I order one without them. Surprise when I got it and the sauce was super-Shrimp-tasty. When we asked the manager if it was made out ot Shrimps he said yes, and when we asked him why it wasn't written in the menu as an allergen, he said I should have said it beforehand. He also refused to change my dish and had to swipe it with my boyfriend. I know this is not a common situation, but least I expected was a "sorry" and a change of dish. They were lucky enough I didn't end up in...
Read moreCheap SE Asian "street food" with (I think) SE Asian staff. That's got to be good, right? Let me tell you how it's really not in this case. This place's speciality is their own invention of not-fresh Vietnamese spring rolls cut to look like SUSHI. They actually refer to sushi in their menu in describing this. This is a very earnest and well-meaning innovation and also a grave insult to Japanese culture. Their second fusion cuisine innovation offense was the red curry with (hardly any) beef and (a) lychee. How could this go wrong? Was it just that the red curry paste was watered down to the point that it was bland dishwater? No, the cooks are earnest and well-meaning so they put a lot of Western-style-ish salad/slaw on top. So it's basically a salad swimming in weak soup. This is a grave insult to...
Read moreWe went with a big group there for a mittagstisch. Reserved in advance. Food was quite okay, but not really super easy or friendly served. What bothered me the most is that when I wanted to pay for the group I was asked to pay 260 euro in cash. We were a bit in a hurry so I went to the cash point on the corner which charges an extra 10 euro fee. Than I paid without thinking and took the bills with me. When doing the calculations some days after I found out the costs were not 260 but 160 euro. So we paid 100 euro too much. So tip for this place... check your bill! I often am with big groups in berlin but not sure I would go here again. Around the spreewaldplatz there are many options where the price is the same, service is good and you can...
