I’ll be honest with this review, that it was my first time eating elk and I absolutely hated it. The meat was terribly dry and had an awful taste. I expected the meat to be tender and medium rare, instead it was like very low quality pulled pork. Completely over cooked and terribly overpriced. Small piece of overcooked meat with mashed potatoes for 28€ is an absolute disgrace. And this was supposed to be the signature dish of the place. Not the best advertisement to eat others.
Again I underline that even though it was my first elk dish, anyone could tell that the plate was just not edible. The taste, smell, texture was just lowest of the low.
What’s interesting is that as the starter there were elk pieces in the cauliflower soup, which were rare made and quite good. Even more surprising how you can terribly overlook something for the main course. And ofc the size, had to go somewhere else for another bite. This shouldn’t happen for the price. Very pretentious and bad quality.
The waiter explained also that “the owner” charges 50 cents for a glass of tap water. I mean, really? You pay 30€ for a main and the waiter announces you that tap water is 50 cents? On top of that, after explaining my concerns and experience he wanted to mitigate the situation by offering another glass of tap water, this time free of charge xD how generous:)

Munch's Hus is great and absolutely worth a visit from a food perspective. The fish plate starters were already all out of excellent quality and taste, same level continued thru main dishes. We tried both a fish and a duck dish as main, all well made. Food has a very recognisable Scandinavian touch, if you like such food, you will absolutely love it here.
Drinks menu also decent, some good wines on the menu and happy to see a few Norwegian craft beers as well.
On the service side there is potential to improve. It was a bit on the slow side as it took over an hour to get our main course. Also there were small things surprising such as no Norwegian menu available, they insisted on German although I spoke English with their waiter... Nothing major, but a bit funny! :)
So, despite not entirely happy with the service, I have to objectively give it a 4.5 which rounds to a 5 here. They got the feeling for the food and the Norwegian tradition, which is the most valuable asset for a restaurant. Will for sure return and try a few...
Read moreSo good that I almost don't want to give it 5 stars to keep it a secret! The food here is consistently excellent. Literally. No exaggeration. It starts with good quality ingredients, particularly with the fish platter that I usually have. Super fresh fish, which means that you don't need to do a lot with it but you need to really have a good sense of how to manage good quality ingredients to bring out the best and the staff here excel at this. Clean, fresh beautifully prepared, well seasoned food...the best of what I've read about Norwegian cuisine. The atmosphere is quiet, comfortable and chic, with beautiful prints of Munch hanging on the walls. And the staff are the very definition of courtesy. :) I am always happy when I come here and leave completely satisfied. I will be so bold as to say completely ignore any suggestions of the price being too high: for this price, you will be hard pressed to find any restaurant in Berlin that gives this quality for the price- Munch's Haus is excellent value,...
