Pan Bao Burger — Restaurant in Berlin

The ginger tea was pretty amazing.

The burger, however... I am usually generous when giving reviews to food places. The only vegan option for burgers was with tofu, and we were promised it would be with some sauce, too.

The tofu... It was a breaded+fried piece of plain tofu with no seasoning, no marinade. The tofu itself was soggy, crumbly, and the breading was, of course, affected by this. I have had tofu burgers before and I have no idea who in this restaurant kitchen thought it would be fine with frying a plain piece of tofu without marinating it. Even a few drops of soy sauce could have saved it.

The burger bun - bao bun - was not great, either. It was somewhat stodgy, too thick and also rather sweet. But, that wasn't the biggest issue. If the patty(tofu in this case) was cooked nicely, I would have not complained. The thick slice of pickled radish that was included in the burger had more flavour than anything else.

No sauces in the burger. Yes, there were bottles of mayo and ketchup at the table, but paying almost 9 euros you are not expected to do this to make it enjoyable.

A cute place with mediocre food. The waitress was very friendly. It did take some effort to grab her attention though. I ate the shrimp burger with skewers and dumplings on the side. Salmon skewers were good. The fish balls and dumplings were alright, nothing special. The shrimp burger was a disappointment unfortunately. The patty was too heavy with the batter. Mango + sweet bun became way too sweet. I would change the bun to something less sweet and add some more acidity. Might try this place one more time to give the...

Don't order from this place.

I ordered from them and waited 3 hours and nothing ever arrived. Called them twice and the first time they said the order had 'just left' and then when nothing arrived after 45 mins I called the second time and they said they couldn't find the order and hadn't started making it. Then they said they'd need a further 1 hour but still nothing arrived. I was charged and didn't get a refund, plus in this whole process they weren't apologetic at all and acted like it...
