Hotel Kiez Pension — Hotel in Berlin

We were visiting Berlin with a larger group, who had booked an apartment in this area. I probably would not have chosen this area, if it just me. However, I was pleasantly surprised.||||My room was a double and was a good size and well maintained and clean. The bathroom was also clean and adequate. However, the room was very basic in regards to no kettle, safe, air con (not that i needed that, as it was Nov). The room was very quiet (the hotel is not on a main road).|||| Breakfast was included in our price and it was good to have the option of having breakfast before we went out. There was a choice of meat, cheese, cereal etc and limited hot (Scrambled, Boiled eggs, sausage, bacon), although the later you left it the less choice there was.||||Staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful||||As other reviews have indicated, the hotel is only a short distance from the U Bahn, and only 5 stops (10mins) from Alexander Platz. This was perfect, as the service was frequent and hassle free.||||There is also a bar/ restaurant area within a 5-10 min walk from the hotel, if you want to try some where other than Berlin City Centre.||||I would...

This place is a hostel. Maybe this place gets good reviews because of the location? It’s a mystery. For the price, I was expecting a decent-to-nice hotel. This is a hostel, ||The room is all plastic, torn vinyl chairs, teeny tiny bedside table (only one), no temperature control (the unit that sits in the closet doesn’t do anything). No coffee. A tiny bit of horrible soap in the bathroom. Really, in this era? You better have all your own toiletries. The bathroom is so tiny you can’t raise your elbows. The shower is so tiny you can barely wash your hair. The shower door is a plastic folding thing. Good location a few minutes walk from the metro station. |Efficient check-in process. |I had a single room which was a little on the small side but given that I was only in it to sleep that was not really a problem. Bathroom was of average size. The main down side was that my bed did not have a head board and the head end was not up by the wall so my pillow had a tendency to slip onto the floor at times during the night.
