We went here not knowing what to expect. It's far enough away from tourist areas to be legit but also right near a busy street. But the reviews looked good so we went for it. And man am I glad we did! There is wonderful seating right outside which is surprisingly peaceful for being so close to Schönhauser Allee, and the friendly service came to greet us. The menu is big with lots of temptations, but I took a gamble (because I don't normally eat fish as an entree) with the Schnitzel "Klement's" which is like a Cordon Bleu with lox, cheese, and pickles. Hooooly smokes, it was tasty! I was thoroughly impressed. While I was snarfing it down, my date also offered me some of her "normal" schnitzel, which was also delicious. Pro-tip: When you hear them pounding away in the kitchen after you order, you know you're getting fresh schnitzel. We were so stuffed after our schnitzels that we couldn't eat another bite. At least until the waitress informed us they had a Kaiserschmarrn-like dessert. I should note that it's not actually Kaiserschmarrn -- it's more of a powdered crepe with apple compote on the side, but it is just as delicious and I couldn't stop shoveling it into my mouth. Even though I needed to lie down afterward (or maybe because I needed to), this place is going on my list of top German spots in Berlin. Stop in and maybe you'll see me napping...
Read moreWe have been living in Berlin's Prenzlauer Berg for a month. Since Klement's is located a few doors down from our apartment, we consider ourselves lucky to have found a great menu with daily specials and special events on Sunday -- brunch from 10 to 3pm plus a schnitzel fest in the evening. We consider this our "local" where we've come to know the family that run it, and most important and feel cozy and at home here. Wonderful service, great food, nice bar. What more could one want? Oh, yes, fresh air sidewalk dining when whether permits, although those cozy blankets on each chair mean you can even be outside when the temperatures start to cool. Otherwise, inside is beautifully but...
Read moreI had a wonderful meal here, very what you'd expect it to be, "Schnitzel mit Kartoffeln Salat" washed down by a clear beer, a cup of coffee and a chocolate souffle for desert. As we were the firsts to arrive at lunch time we were sat down by a window so people walking doww the street could see us, not "us" but customers having a good time eating there and be invited in. At the end of the meal we each paid 28+tip which is a good price for the lot. All in all it was a good experience and I...
