Our group visited on a busy Sunday evening, and unfortunately, the experience left a lot to be desired. When we arrived, there was no clear guidance on where we could sit. Even though not enough tables were available (there were some but scattered), it would have been helpful if a staff member had acknowledged us and at least attempted to assist in some way. Instead, we were left standing by the entrance for quite a while, unsure of what to do. Eventually, it was thanks to other guests who made space for us—not the staff—that we found a table. In fact, the staff only noticed we had seated ourselves after we were already settled.
Once we ordered, we waited about an hour for our food. While we understand that the restaurant was short-staffed and busy, the overall impression was that the front of house was overwhelmed and not actively managing the situation. The food itself was okay, but the service experience made it unlikely that I would return.
Note: I’ve reworded my review to be more constructive, but I’m keeping the 1-star rating because it reflects the experience our group had that evening. I appreciate the restaurant’s response, and I understand their challenges, but I still believe that even a small effort to assist us from the start would have made a big difference. That said, I encourage others to try it for themselves and form their...
Read moreAn excellent place for authentic, affordable Indonesian food - flavors range somewhere between Vietnamese, Indian, Singaporean and Korean (with regards to Berlin restaurants of that kind, never been to most countries myself). It's by far not as spicy as it looks but very savory and the peanut based dishes are insanely good. Also enjoyed the spicy fish dish that's drowning in chilis a lot! We ordered 3x the rice dish to share and we got a decent amount of food. Looked slightly too little, but was indeed sufficient to feed 3 grown up men. The staff is so lovely that it hurts, their smile constantly makes you want to cuddle them. The overall furniture (seated inside) not really made for larger people, however :D Can confirm, that it's spreading very canteen / family like and happy vibes and I felt very welcome here. The cocktails we had hit us with great volume for their value but don't expect anything too creative (you don't go here for long drinks, do you?). Rock solid recommendation if you can't stand Vietnamese & Indian places anymore and if you find those hipster hand drawn Chinese noodle popups...
Read more30.05.2025 I returned to Makan Enak to have more Sata Ayam, but I ended up being pretty disappointed. Positiv side: Very fast food delivery. From my order to get the food it took probably a little bit more then 5 Minutes. Negative side: The Sate Ayam and the rice tasted dry and hard on the edges and the food was only warm not hot. The staff told me, that they prepared the food fresh for me, but in regarding the fast time and the texture of the food I don't believe that. I won't return for another try.
The restaurant does look better now with the new furniture. 7 months ago I had the Sate Ayam as starter and because of the nice introduction text the Rendang Sapi a main. I loved the Sate Ayam, it was amazing, but I was disappointed from the Rendang Sapi. Maybe my expectations were to high because reading about the CNN story in the menu. I personally found it tasted bland. The service was good but the restaurant doesn't look very nice from the inside. It's a mixture of different styles and stuff. But again, I will defiantly come back for...
