Amazing Dining Experience at Pastis! 🌟

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Pastis, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the perfect tone for a fantastic meal. And I would mention that we Know Pastis from the time when we had a flat around a corner and now traveling some km to revisit them on special occasions for dining.

The service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Our server made great recommendations and ensured we had everything we needed.

Now, onto the food—absolutely delicious! I tried surprise menu, and it was perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. Every bite was a delight!

The service was friendly. The food was average, the wine menu unremarkable.

We had the marseillaise fish soup: the rouille was nice and garlicky, the cheese was allegedly gruyères (very tasteless gruyères) and the fish soup itself was rather spicy.

For main we had the tagliatelle with truffles, which was a huge disappointment, and the veal cheeks. For the tagliatelle, there was no hope of tasting the truffles, the dish was excessively salty, rather dry, undercooked shallots, watercress everywhere and a huge dollop of balsamic vinegar. What a waste of an expensive ingredient!

As for the veal cheeks, the dish was hearty and a huge welcome on a cold evening. The meat was tender and well cooked, the sauce was rich and tasty.

Wir sind mit einer sehr hohen Erwartungshaltung ins Restaurant Pastis gekommen, denn wir hatten die Kritik von Heinz Horrmann in der Berliner Morgenpost gelesen: Bestes Französisches Restaurant in Berlin!

Nun denn - als erstes wurden wir - nachdem wir 2 Wochen vorher den Tisch reserviert hatten! - an einem winzigen Katzentisch direkt an der Wand ohne jegliche Bewegungsfreiheit platziert. Diese Tische sind an sich schon eine Zumutung.

Als nächstes sagte uns die (asiatische) Kellnerin, dass wir den Tisch nur bis 20 Uhr hätten. Also mussten wir uns sogar noch beeilen, weil wir eine Weile auf der Stadtautobahn im Stau feststeckten.

Wir fragten diese (chinesiche) Kellnerin, ob wir denn wechseln könnten. Das sei nicht möglich kam von ihr recht schroff.

Der nette (französische) Kellner machte es uns dann möglich. Der Tisch wäre auch bis 20 Uhr frei geblieben!

Dann das Essen: Die Vorspeise war eine breiige Suppe mit ein paar Miesmuscheln drin. Sah weder schön aus, noch schmeckte sie hochwertig.

Die confierte Ente war dann erst recht eine herbe Enttäuschung: eine so fettige Ente habe ich in keinem Restaurant zu essen bekommen! Die Haut war somit komplett ungenießbar. Was für mich als Enten-Liebhaber besonders schade war.

Nun ja, der Nachtisch - ein Windbeutel mit Eis - war dann sehr lecker. Aber für 100 € hätten wir eine sehr viel bessere Qualität UND eine sehr viel nettere Bedienung erwartet. Und muss es eine chinesische Kellnerin in einem französischen Restaurant sein? Das passt einfach nicht dort hinein.

Fazit: Das beste französische Restaurant der Stadt ist dieses ganz sicher nicht! Das befindet sich nämlich in Kreuzberg und heisst...
