Read moreI had the Sahara bowl (namesake to the store) and was pleasantly surprised by the experience. Sudanese food, somewhat different taste, unusual spices, vast variety of textures. In the huge sea of more of the same it's a delight to see spots like this operating. The atmosphere and entire getup feels very berlinized and authentic to the city with stickered walls and clearly different origin furniture, while keeping it's core ethnic identity.
The best bang for your buck is probably the sandwiches which my friend had. The platters feel a bit lackluster portion wise.
There's a wide variety of toppings and sauces that support many different dietary restrictions, however if you can't have peanuts then I'd feel sorry for you since Sudanese cuisine is a lot about that and they do...

It saddens me to write, because I used to eat here every other day and it's (conveniently) super close to my flat, but the quality has really dropped a lot, and the food is now consistently very disappointing to me. The food I got here was mostly far from fresh, peanut sauce was bland and my stomach always hurts quite a bit the next day. Even the best days here as not as good as at the Wildenbruchstraße Sahara (the best one) or the Weserstraße one (slightly less reliable, also busier.)
