Worst service – good food can’t make up for that.

We arrived as a big group to celebrate a friends birthday and the rude staff really ruined the mood for everyone. Every single staff member we spoke to had an attitude for no reason, was not helpful or friendly at all. When asking about hazel nuts for allergy reasons they freaked and said it’s rude to not mention that with your reservation already. She explained that they won’t clean the kitchen tools and other things again and can’t make sure there’s no nuts in any of the dishes. As we ordered the full menu twice as a big group they already knew in advance what we wanted so they kind of immediately served food before we even had a chance to order drinks. Oh and the whole thing about not standing outside on the pathway for a minute is just ridiculous. So maybe the tables should be ready on time to avoid that instead of calling people out for waiting for their table. Later that evening one staff member brushed one our friends by the shoulder when walking past calling him an a**.

I’ve never experienced something like this before and therefore can’t recommend going there. That’s a shame, because the food itself is good. But at the end of the day you’re going out for dinner for the experience – and that’s one thing that Café Pilz clearly...

Unfortunately this will be the last time I ever stepped a foot in this place. I had always liked it in there but last night I had made a reservation for my birthday dinner with my mother and best friends (including a 7 weeks old baby of my friend) and we have arrived in a complete mess. The waiter's first comment to us was "you cannot sit here, because we need to pass", instead of welcoming us to their restaurant. The night continued when we ordered the entire menu (all dishes and bottles of Cremánt) and no one told us that we will have not even 1 hour to finish all the food. When it was 8.52pm the waiter came and said "in 8 minutes you need to ask you to leave the table". The entire table was full of food, we haven't even ordered wine for the food HAHA. As it was my birthday dinner, we did not even get to finish our food, nor have a glass of wine, nor give gifts and say a toast! It was the worst experience. The restaurant is okay for hipsters and tourists perhaps in Berlin that do not care about service or any standard of decency. The respect and understanding or the intent to offer a solution so we can at least FINISH OUR FOOD we perceived was...

The food is great. Tasty and fresh. The only minutes points are: Service very unprofessional. She actually knew nothing about the options, was hard to get to and not too friendly. She couldn't give us a bill and operating the credit card machine. This is Neukölln service. The acoustic was horrible. There was a noisy group on the other side we couldn't hear each other. But hey this is Neukölln dying-for-attention public. You get just one tiny kind of pita (really tiny and not really a pita) with hummus, and nothing with other plates. Extra pitas cost extra. Not too many options and hardly anything is warm.

I will still come there again, is still a good place and has a lot of things they do right. But they need to get the small quirks...

Highly recommended place! There were 3 of us and even though we didn't have a reservation, and it was all full outside, they managed to find us a seat at the counter. We ordered 5 dishes (+ free water and bread) and we were full at the end (so don't be scared if the portions seem small). They took us a little while to make the dishes but as soon as they arrived we understood why: each dish was taken care of down to the smallest detail and each one was bursting with flavors. But above all the thing we liked the most was the bread: warm, crispy outside and soft with a cloud inside, I'm still dreaming about it! The only thing I feel like reporting is the lack of air conditioning, and so it was a bit hot inside. But anyway you absolutely have to go there!

Very cozy place with friendly staff. However, all the food came to the table cold, even the "hot aubergines" and the oven-baked potatoes. I admit that I know very little about israeli cuisine, so if it was meant to be served like that I apologize. The waitress was very sweet and friendly, but didn't speak German, which is not a problem for me, but was a little confusing. I enjoyed the experience while it lasted, but all the stellar comments ended up creating unreasonable expectations, which has left me slightly underwhelmed. I am not sure I would be coming back personally, but I'd recommend it to people who would like some place new, nice and quiet.
