I had nasi lemak special (coconut milk rice with 6 sides) with air limau kasturi (fresh squeezed calamansi drink with crushed ice), and as a good round off an "air tenaga" (energy booster). I have to say I was actually still full from lunch, but I still ate the whole plate with gusto, that's how good it tasted. Nasi lemak was not too overwhelming but just a hint of the coconut milk fragrance, blends so well with rendang daging (Malay beef stew), and it contrasts so well with the gulai udang (tangy sweet sour shrimp 🍤 - definitely worth a try!). The fried egg is done exactly as you'll find back in Malaysia, ikan bilis and roasted peanuts with skin (+cucumber slices with zigzag frills) are a must, and the fried tofu and pressed tempeh are a welcome addition. I know what I'll be dreaming about tonight 🤤 Air limau kasturi is also done exactly like in a mamak stall in Malaysia, just tangy enough and sweet enough to cleanse and tempt your palate. Air tenaga, now that's not something I've tried before. But the day being gray and chilly, I ordered it. It did not disappoint. It's Malaysian black tea with calamansi quarters, ginger strips, peppermint leaves and nigella fennel seeds, you get to add honey according to taste. A worthy halal opponent to Glühwein in the Christmas season. :)

We were looking for authentic Malaysian in Berlin. While there are plenty of Indonesian restaurants, it's not quite the same. We came across this and called ahead of time on the same day and reserved a table. Getting there, the place looked quaint and very clearly family owned. We thought, this is gonna be good and it sure was. The food reminds you of home cooking. Think of your mom or grandma and that's the feeling. The dishes were not trying to mask themselves as upscale dining but just comfort food. Full of flavor and everything tasted great! The owner was also extremely friendly and super attentive. She spent some time chatting with us and sharing her love of restaurants and food. Very welcoming. If you're looking to get dessert here, it's not available. Although wait for the summer to come around and theyve got a traditional Malay desert to serve up. 100% recommend and will definitely be back again for that Roti Chanai.

It is a fantastic place if you crave some Nasi Lemak or Laksa—the place brings back memories from our time in Singapore. We ordered the following for two: 1. Laksa: The dish was perfect, with its tightly packed flavors blending well with the noodles in coconut milk. 2. Chicken Satay: We couldn't just get enough of the peanut paste the skewers came wrapped with. Perfect flavors, indeed. Note that this comes with a portion of rice. 3. Nasi Lemak Special: I tried this as it was recommended by the host and got the flavor of all their curries. The Beef rendang was just perfect and went amazingly well with the rice. 4. Bandung: The humble yet tasty rose-flavored drink you must acquire a taste for. Sweet, cold, and rosy indeed! 😬 I will definitely visit again for this authentic Malay experience!
