Pelmeni — Restaurant in Berlin

My boyfriend and I visited this cafe for the first time in 2023 in the summer. We were looking for dumplings and found very tasty and most importantly halal, it is important for us that I am Jewish and he is Muslim. At first we ordered one portion, then more and more. The second time we were there in the winter, we took dumplings and cabbage rolls. Everything was delicious, that's true. But, the downsides in this cafe are an unpleasant smell, like spoiled food, loud national music of Chechnya (although it is positioned as Eastern European cuisine). The women are not friendly, although I smiled a lot. My boyfriend was very angry because of their unfriendliness, I don't know why they behaved like that, we are nice and kind. For food 5, service 1, atmosphere 1. Girls, grow and develop, you cook deliciously, but do not know how to communicate...

I ordered borscht, vareniki & plov, all tasted amazing. The food is freshly made so it will take a while but then it makes sure the quality is good. Also tried the homemade kompot (cold), great for a hot summer day. The prices of each dishes are very good for the amount they offer.

Besides Eastern European dishes they also offer traditional Uzbek/uyghur dishes such as plov, manti and even lagman! All food here is halal.

Wir sind ins Restaurant gekommen, es war nur die Köchin da, die auch unsere Bestellung aufgenommen hat. Sie war wirklich nett, und die Preise sind für diese Gegend sehr fair. Dann kam die Kellnerin, die uns und alle anderen Gäste sehr unterschiedlich behandelt hat. Alle, die nach uns kamen, wurden zuerst bedient – mit Getränken und Essen. Unserer Meinung nach lag das daran, dass alle anderen Gäste, anders als wir, kaukasischen Ursprungs waren und entweder die Sprache der Köchin oder der Kellnerin sprachen, während wir Englisch und Deutsch sprechen. Unsere Palmeni hatten eine Fliege drauf, worauf wir hingewiesen haben. Die Reaktion darauf war sehr unverständlich und gleichgültig, Ersatz haben wir keinen bekommen. Beim Rückgeld gab es einen Fehler, den wir erst selbst bemerkt haben, die Bedienung wirkte genervt und wenig gastfreundlich. Die Palmeni waren nur mittelmäßig – der Teig war lecker, aber das Rindfleisch trocken und kaum besser als gekaufte aus dem russischen Laden.
