SONORA - Cantina Mexicana — Restaurant in Berlin

I had a very bad experience at Sonora, Mexican Cantina tonight. I think the waiter doesn't understand very well. I went there with my 8 year old son and we ordered burritos. I specifically told the waiter that I wanted a very simple burrito for my son with only beans, rice, lettuce and sour cream and instead brought us their normal veggie burrito full of veggies and covered in cheese and swimming in some sort of sweet mayo/cream pool :( ok so maybe he misheard but he said yes to all I asked. Then of course my son would not eat it, he's at that age he will just eat basic stuff, which is exactly why I asked for a basic burrito so we had to take it home. I asked the waiter to pack it, just the burrito, not the cream pool and the heavily dressed salad that it came with. I told him this was not the right thing for my son and that I just wanted to take the burrito home, he again said yes and nodded. So when I got home, guess what was in the aluminum container together with the burrito? Yep, the pool of cream and the salad with all the dressing. The burrito was not a burrito anymore but a burrito cream and dressing soup. People, please don't go here for basic Mexican food and do not ask for anything special. FINGER WEG VON SONORA! Wir waren heute nach Feierabend auf der Suche nach einem Restaurant, um noch etwas essen zu gehen- leider haben wir die Rezensionen nicht gelesen. Wir bestellten uns eine Portion Nachos mit Käse überbacken, sowie eine Vorspeisenplatte. Die Nachos kamen vor der Vorspeisenplatte an unseren Tisch- waren jetzt nichts besonderes, aber essbar. Dann kam die Vorspeisenplatte mit drei verschiedenen Dips. Bereits nach wenigen Bissen mussten wir feststellen, dass sowohl einer der Dips, als auch die Bruschettas nach Seife schmeckten. Dies wollten wir mit einem der Kellner vernünftig besprechen. Dieser nahm die Dips und das angebissene Brot mit in die Küche, kam zurück und meinte, dass alles normal sei und er nicht entscheiden könne, was jetzt passiert, da der Chef nicht im Haus ist. Schnell schaltete sich ein weiterer Kellner ein, der sehr schnell extrem laut wurde und behauptete, dass das ganze Restaurant das selbe Essen bestellt hätte und sich niemand beschweren würde. Er bezichtige uns der Lügen und wurde immer lauter. Er verließ das Geschehen und ein dritter Kellner kam, der uns weiterhin eine böse Absicht unterstellte. Niemand lies sich auf ein vernünftiges Gespräch ein, die drei Kellner wurden gleichermaßen laut und extrem respektlos. Einen derartig respektlosen Umgang haben wir noch nie erlebt. Von Anfang an wurde nicht richtig zugehört und laut und sehr unverschämt auf uns eingeredet. Abgesehen von dem seifigen Geschmack bestand die Vorspeisenplatte aus nicht mexikanischen, sondern amerikanischen Tiefkühlspeisen (Kartoffeln in jeglicher Variation, Mozzarellasticks, Chicken Wings,…).

Furchtbare Erfahrung, absolut nicht...

Don’t take me wrong, the place is quite pleasant, the location is really nice, the staff is truly friendly, the food is ok. BUT it is NOT Mexican food. It is the German version of Tex-Mex food. Nothing is authentic, if you want an authentic Mexican restaurant with real tortillas (white corn, not wheat or yellow corn) in Charlottenburg, there isn’t much choice, apart from Tacoriño where the tortillas are freshly made and the cook is Mexican.
