John Barleycorn — Restaurant in Bonn

I ordered coke and waited around 30 min for food, if not more. The service of the bar was not friendly. I had a mosquito in my glass and the bartender offered me just another glass, or pay for another drink. Like I put this bug in my glass by myself. That’s just so crazy, I’m in your bar and my drink is ruined by most probably anti-sanitary, and I have to pay for another one again and hope there is no mosquitos in it. 👎👎 and usually I don’t mind that, but I’m eating near those mosquitos 🦟. Bon appetite to people who sits near to the bar 🥰

(Update) Dear Bastian, Let’s be honest the main issue wasn’t about replacing the Coke. It was about the flies and mosquitoes constantly flying around the bar 🪰. That’s not what I would expect from a place that claims to “place great importance on cleanliness.” Also, I did not photograph your staff personally. I took a picture of the bar interior, which is perfectly legal. Your employee happened to be in the background, nothing more. It’s not as if the photo was used for any commercial or defamatory purpose. I’m surprised by your statement, as bartenders are usually part of the visible atmosphere of any bar 🥰 If you don’t like receiving negative feedback, perhaps try being a bit friendlier and keeping the bar cleaner that’s usually the best way to avoid it😉 Kind regards, Kamila

I love a good pub and the John Barleycorn did not disappoint! The place feels really authentic. When you walk through the door, the traditional bar stand welcomes you. However, this place also offers a larger dining area, private room and outdoor seating in the back. They have a large selection of beer and whiskey as well as a variety of other beverages in case that's not your thing. JB offers a small menu and I enjoyed my Shepherd's Pie. It was so good that I'm thinking about going again. The lamb and vegetables in brown gravy topped with mashed potatoes was fantastic. My friend had the Bangers & Mash which was also very tasty. They also offer fish and chips as well as burgers so there's something for everyone. I believe they offer a pub quiz (I think Mondays) but I didn't stay long enough to join. Draught Guinness, my favourite, served very well. Thank you. There were four of us for an evening meal we tried previously but they were stacked out the wait made it even better.
