Disappointed again. Last time was for the timing issue. This time, something different. I had ordered a table for 3, went there 10 minutes before. Happy with the seating arrangement. The experience after that was disappointing. We had to wait for almost 30 minutes to order (this was still okay due to less staff during Vivid). Then we ordered what we needed. Hospitality from the staff was zero, they did not even bother to light up the table candles (I do not understand, this was just done to us, all the candles for other tables were lot promptly as when the guests occupied, for which we felt bad). I guess the restaurant should start to understand the difference between appetizers and main course. Our entire order was delivered together which led to shortage of space on the table and the food were getting cold. Please starters first and then main course, that is the reason why they are named so. Also while we were waiting for our order, we expected the free appetizers (papadam) to arrive at our table which made way to other tables, but we had to personally ask them thrice and still wait. Finally we were happy that our order arrived, happy to eat our favourite beloved food just to regret at the end of it having at this restaurant which was full of baking soda. Our stomachs were bloated the entire night and we are facing stomach issues till the next evening. Advice : We pay money too, treat us the same way as others are treated. Don't make faces, if you are not tipped, yes, you did not make us feel comfortable...
Read moreMy search for South Indian food took me to Taste of India—and I was not disappointed with the masala dosa. It was quite tasty. The accompanying sauces: coconut, green sauce and tomato sauce were also tasty.
The other thing I ordered was Chicken 65. This item was ok. Chicken 65 usually has an Indian Chinese flavour but this tasted nothing like it.
Also, this place does not serve regular, tap water. I find it rather strange and unbecoming of especially an Indian restaurant for two reasons: a) it does not cost the restaurant anything to serve tap water if requested b) In India, the first thing you’re served without asking, when you sit at a table, is water—doesn’t matter how small the restaurant.
They have a lunch menu on weekdays which is pretty decent and well-priced. This I would recommend.
Since I had just the above two items, I cannot judge the restaurant on other dishes on its menu. But the masala dosa here is what I would recommend (and why I’ve even given it...
Read moreI was regular visitor to this restaurant since 2011. Initially I liked the food but later realised they have same menu. Even suggested them to add few items in their list and update / change the menu. Seems management did not like to change menu. They have same menu for lunch options for ages. Further to add recently noted change in their service staff. I must say the new service person needs training on how to behave with customers he do not know basics of service industry and he is a little arrogant to customers. His behaviors is as if he is doing favor on us by serving. He also mess up with payments and charges twice for my order. Recently I paid him twice for lunch as he claimed that he did not remember I paid him. Unfortunately I did have receipt from him while i paid to back to avoid further discussion. I suggest to b careful while u order n pay at this restaurant. Also if like to eat same menu every time u may surely think to visit this...
