Halo, I'm a South Korean. I arrived in Germany for the first time last month and am currently residing in Brandenburg an der Havel. If you've seen an Asian woman around town recently, it's probably me :) On the recommendation of a local friend, I visited Bohnarchie, and it has truly made me happy. Since I’m still not proficient in German, I always focus on the body language of those around me.
The two owners of Bohnarchie are incredibly kind and attentive to their customers. They deliver coffee and desserts promptly as soon as an order is placed. When the café gets busy, they work seamlessly together, alternating between taking orders and handling payments to ensure that guests don’t have to wait too long. Their teamwork is so in sync that I imagine they must be either a couple or family. From their body language, I can tell how genuinely they welcome their customers and how much joy they take in serving coffee and desserts they've carefully prepared.
They use oat milk instead of regular milk in their coffee, and the coffee beans they roast themselves pair wonderfully with oat milk. Honestly, before trying the coffee at Bohnarchie, I was somewhat skeptical about coffee with oat milk, but they completely changed my perspective, and I am truly delighted. The coffee at Bohnarchie is absolutely delicious.
In Korea, I often made pour-over coffee using a Hario filter at home or visited cafés that served coffee tailored to my taste, including pour-over coffee, americano, and latte. I’m not a coffee expert, just someone who loves coffee, but I do know what good coffee tastes like. Initially, I was disappointed with the coffee I had when I first arrived in Germany, but Bohnarchie has definitely met my expectations.
I also tried a chocolate-filled baked bread at the café, though I can’t quite recall the exact name, but I believe it’s one of the most popular items on the menu. What’s more, the café is located along one of my favorite walking routes, and I must say that the location is excellent.
Furthermore, I was deeply impressed by the café’s exterior and interior design, including the bar table arrangement, the seating, and even the rest room. Everything has been carefully arranged and beautifully designed to allow the owners to handle any situation with ease. The spacious, the rest room is cozy, clean, and so comfortable that I could almost take a nap there. The Wi-Fi connection is fast, making it a great spot for working on a laptop or smartphone.
Personally, I enjoy finding the small differences between South Korean and German cafés, which adds to the fun of visiting.
P.S. I would love to engage in more conversations with the two owners, but since this café is constantly busy with customers, I make sure to leave quickly after finishing my coffee or dessert to avoid taking up too much of their time. I deeply respect the owners and sincerely hope they can continue running this wonderful café without exhaustion for many years to come. I can feel how much thought, effort, and practice they’ve invested into every little detail. Creating a unique menu that represents the essence of their café must have been the most challenging part, but they’ve done an excellent job. I’m not sure how long I’ll stay in Germany, but I’m certain that this will be a place I’ll cherish for many years, even until the day I develop dementia.
Finally, I have a request for the two owners: Please take good care of your wrists and shoulders to ensure a long and healthy life! I’m cheering for Bohnarchie and for Sophie...

The interior is lovingly decorated and invites you to linger. Due to the high variation of coffee and pastry specialties, no wishes remain unfulfilled.
The most beautiful thing about this wonderful place is the fact that the coffee roasting is done directly in the café. The permanent smell of fresh coffee is absolutely fantastic! Likewise, I have not experienced operators who are so passionate about social and environmental sustainability. All products come from regional farms in the region.
If I come to Berlin in the future, I will return with great...
