Really hardworking crew, promising culinary quality but why shortchange me on the Nilgiri rice 🍣😭?
The elderly waiter made sure we felt utmost welcomed. Despite him alone manning the entire indoor and outdoor eating area, he took our order within 10 minutes and served us food within another 10 minutes.
The presentation was extraordinarily, really opened my appetite, until I flipped the Salmon and added the wasabi… (see photos)
Rice tasted decent and salmon was actually an above average cut for the price point. Fatty and smooth. However, the rice preparation was so appalling done that most of my excitement from the extraordinary thoughtful presentation was cancelled out.
It also doesn’t help that I am reminded of Mai-Mai when eating in a restaurant with a slightly higher price point (see photo). If I want to eat in Mai-Mai, I would have walked 2 minutes more into HBF. I don’t have to order a drink, sat down and pay at least 2 times more.
The neighbourhood Döner shop was blasting very loud music, within the span of 30 minutes we were accosted by a Gypsy beggar and 2 swindling attempts. Part and parcel of eating right in front of HBF: for those who wants some peace and quiet, best to sit inside.
Toilet was really clean and well equipped.
Given how hard working the crew is, plus the overall quality of the food (acceptable for its price point) I would have happily give this restaurant a 5 stars. I knocked down 1 star due to the sushi rice. That was a...
Read moreNestled conveniently near the train station, this pretty little Vietnamese restaurant transports you straight to Vietnam as soon as you step inside. The interior boasts beautiful wood designs and charming lanterns hanging from the ceiling, creating an inviting and authentic atmosphere. (The only thing out of place was the techno like music.)
The menu is extensive, offering a delightful range of traditional Vietnamese dishes from fresh summer rolls to Pho and Bun Cha. They also feature sushi and other Asian specialties such as chicken skewers with peanut sauce and Chinese dim sum.
While the Har Gau (shrimp dumplings) were only average, with a dumpling skin that was a bit too thick, the bowls with warm rice noodles were delicious and fresh. The lime dressing balanced tangy, salty, and sweet flavors perfectly, and the proteins were cooked to perfection (tender chicken and prawns). Portion sizes were just right, leaving us satisfied but not overly full. The strong Vietnamese coffee provided the perfect finish to a wonderful meal.
Service was friendly and welcoming, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. Definitely worth a visit for a little...
Read moreSuper bad experiences here. The first time we ate here, we ate a hair in the sushi. And then something incredible happened. The waiter said that we had pulled the hair out of our heads and put it in. We've been insulted. That was unbelievable.
The second time was invited by a friend, first of all, the attitude of the waitress was very bad. After ordered the restaurant was so crowded that the food came very slow. The restaurateur came out and apologized to every table except ours and gave them cookies. I thought she'd just forgotten about us until I saw that the other two tables hadn't received an apology either, and by coincidence they were also yellow, and the other table was black. I realized it wasn't an exception. There were more than ten tables in the room, each with biscuits and apologies, except for our three tables. All but our three tables are German. I do not understand what is the meaning of such behavior? We pay to eat, but we don't even have the most...
